Keep an eye on the Meetings and Events forum. The "Cruisy wednesday night rides" are due to start up sometime in September. That's a good way to catch up with some fellow riders.

Sumner Cinema 31st Aug Sunday 1.30 & 4pm get together

    Hi There,

This is slightly off topic but could be a good way to meet a few other riders.

Just letting you know that there should be a few riders at the Sumner Hollywood Cinemas this coming Sunday 31st of August for the Christchurch Premiere of the African Odyssey at 1.30pm and 4pm.

This is a film that 3 friends and I put together, it is pretty kiwi stuff, cheap arse bikes and no clues whatsoever and we rode from Cape Town to London 21,000km and filmed the trip to share when we got home. With the help of a good editor and some great music people seem to be enjoying the end result.

I think there will be a good turn out of bikers on the day so could be a good social event. Feel free to spread the word too as I have just got back from Beijing supporting my brother in the Olympics so I am worried the word hasn't spread as far as it should have.

    Check www.africanodyssey.co.nz for more details.

    Cheers

    Nic

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

It gets dark... Darkness and grit is a bad combination.

    Also, it gets cold.

    ...and it may snow.

It really really gets dark... and sometimes it rains - it is pretty scary.

Truth be told - I don't know, but I'm sure we could make a long list of excuses.

Join a club, you will end up riding all over the country on any given weekend.

Plains MC met Friday night for pool and darts, then trotted off on Sunday for a ride.

CKMC had a get together at the triump bike show.

Maces Rd Club (that what they called?) I think went out with the PMC guys

Some of the HOG guys had drinks Friday night, and had a ride Saturday.

Also call the bike shops as several organise weekend rides - there's a Kaikoura ride late this month through the Honda Riders Club and Casbolts - I'll post some details. Sportzone do rides every now and then.
The Triumph shop has club rides frequently.

No worries what brand you ride anymore to any of the rides, so its all good fun.

You'll also catch up with fellow riders at Little River going either way.

There will be plenty coming up as the weather improves.

    One thing about group rides.
A lot turn into group races My advise is to stay well within your own riding abilities and leave your ego at home.
I was on one a while back and I was so middle of the bunch that I ended up riding 80% of the trip bang in the middle on my own. The thing is when we regrouped the fast guys had just removed their helmets when I arrived and likewise me removing mine when the tail enders arrived. Over 50k's there was a max of about 5 minutes between guys riding on the edge of their tyres and those with mega chicken strips.

Catch you on the road sometime soon.

Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Nando's on Colombo St has MotoGP night first Tuesday of the month (tonight) with discount on food/drink and racing on a big screen. You'll meet lots of motorcyclists there

Or, go out with lots of clubs and groups (while heeding the advice of ride at your own pace etc) until you find one that has people who ride like you.

Then ask them whos.... bike... needs a polish and can you join lol
