I know this is a bike forum but...

    Hey everyone,

Have a 1991 Nissan Presea for rainy days/moving people around. I took the airfilter off today in order to locate the oil filter (turns out it in a bitch of a place), put it back on and now the thing won't start.

The car idles a wee bit high so I turned what looked like the idle stop handle a 1/4 turn out, however I put it back to where it was after it didn't start the first time. The car did start and ran once at very low RPM before it died, giving it a bit of throttle helped it die. Much like starting a cold manual choke car with the choke off.

The engine is a 1.5L, DOHC and has a carbie (160K). Engine worked relatively normally before I fiddled with it today!

Erm you didnt do anything funny when put the oil filter on (block anything?)
also check you didnt leave the lights on while working and now the battery needs a good charge.

Didn't take the oil filter off this time, too awkward place. Just took the air filter off, had a bit of a general prod with the carb but only wound back a handle a bit, but I put that back and still wont go, so must be something else. Battery is charged, have a proper charger to take care of that.

Mucked around just before, it will kind of start and run at low rpm before it dies if I hold the accelerator down when cranking. Found a smallish hose which originates from what looks like the transmission, can't find anything to connect it to, can't say if it wasn't already disconnected.

    Cheers.

Problem solved, CRC sprayed into the carbie did the trick. Was probably just flooded. Relief.

    Cheers.
