Good on you Slim, life is short and we need to do what makes us happy. Money helps but there's a lot of things that matter more than money. Enjoy!!

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

But the real disasters in life begin when you get what you want.

I've taken the view these days I need the time more than the last few dollars these days. I changed jobs in 2003 and made sure I took a 7 week break between jobs (I tried for 2 months but my new boss wanted me quicker) and insisted on a decent Xmas holiday so took 6 weeks last year. Then I had a week in Sydney later in the year besides a few work trips. This Xmas break I'm having 4 weeks off, that's why I'm still at home, and in April I'm having another 2 weeks holiday in Australia. Some of it ends up being leave without pay, but what the hell. My last kid (daughter) has just finished school so both mine will be at Uni next year and we figure its time we had a bit of a change and some more freedom and time for ourselves.
    Cheers

Good on you for doing what'll make you happier. Life's too short to be sitting around working for someone else and not doing your own thing.

I just handed my resignation in this morning too!

Don't worry man, I'm a tight arse so we don't change our bikes too quickly anyway, but then we are impulsive buyers all the same and I'm already a pensioner so some money rolls in no matter what.

As for Slim, all the best, do what feels right for you.

Mr Melon have you got another job lined up?
    Cheers

I've got full time uni starting in a month, so that's why I've resigned... I've (hopefully) got a bit of regular part time work organised though.

Thanks for all the good wishes, and it's nice knowing I'm not the only one who's gone down this path, and successfully too by the sounds of it.

I told Mum & Dad last night and while they're not happy that I'm moving out of town again, they're proud and happy that I've made the decision and am so happy & positive about it. My sister-in-law has just told me that she's looking forward to the House Warming party in Te Puke!

Trash - any word from the Triumph Importers?!?? Hope you're not slacking off on my behalf!

    Arrow Bummer.

I also work shift work and really enjoy it. Good luck with the move and finding another job
