GSF250 Sprocket and chain stuff

Hey, so my bandit needs new sprockets, currently shes sporting a cheap as chips chain while I get around to this but the noise is getting on my nerves. (yes i'm lubing it)

So my question is this: how hard is it to swap the main drive sprocket? and what tools will I need. I have general mechanical experience but a 1981 mini is on a totally different level of accuracy to the things ive seen in the GSF600 manual (is it just me or is a GSF250 manual pretty much unobtainable?) I'm talking experience of doing it before someone sends me back to the manual, I know how an innocent two pages can take an afternoon of swearing! Also, is 'dropping a tooth' on the main sprocket a sensible decision? Or does 11k at highway speeds get a little old on a long cruise?

Replacing sprokets is dead simple. Make sure you undo the coutershaft sproket before you take the chain off so you can stand on the rear brake to lock it up. The only thing you might need that isn't in your tool kit will be a socket big enough for the nut there and a breaker bar. You won't know what size until you get the sprocket cover off.

Cycletreads do a deal, around $250 for a quality chain, sprockets, and fitting from memory.... which is pretty bloody good.

My bandit has been re-geared at some stage before I got it so it does 10.5k at 100kph. It's great at low speed, bucket loads of torque but if you're doing longer journeys it can be a real pain having to refill every 150km or so. The high revs don't bother me as I can't really hear much over the wind noise anyway.
