    JEEP CHEROKEE advice needed

    Hi folks - my jeep wont start cos the inhibitor swich for the trans has stuffed out. can sombodey tell me where to find it on these things???
    Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......

    some boxes run the switch at the front of the gear shifter under the consol or find were the cable gose to on the gear box its self or just start it in nuteral

    what year/model -V6 or straight 6?

    V6?? never seen one unless its a Ford Exploder- they do a veesix. Ive looked under the shifter around the console. that just has wires for the illuminati at the shifter and two cables- 1 for kickdown and other for shifter. on the tailshaft is electric speedo sender and warning light switch for high low and 4wd

    GRAND cherokee
    Anyhoo--how many wires coming out of shift illuminator?-might be a simple contact arangement for in neutral and park

    My ex has a grand cherokee LTD 1996 mine is a 1994- squarer shape. hers is identical to my motor -a staight six from a fuckin valiant virtually!


    Anyhoo.. good point , but no I checked. The wires are just two. and they split off to illuminate the =hi lo and 4wd lever as well

    Found it and sorted it! its hidden under a metal stick and stone guard- you cant even follow the wiring from it- realy well made!
    Ayhoo.. its got dust in it and has become intermittent.
    Now found that it also controls kickdown reversing lights trans hold and neutral safety switch. 8 pairs of contacts. so if anyone ever needs it cos their jeep has trans problems, go here-
