thanks MR for the organising. You got a gr8t turn out

thanks to Quasie for opening his home and cooking.

And it was mighty fun trying to keep up with the 600's on the way back SH22, everything was good except the Tar.... (why did they have to put so much tar on?)

and it was great to meet you all, ppl I know and new alike. Now where is the photo of mE ? (please) and i am so buggered I just went home had ice cream and fell asleep for a few hours :P

    JSG (just some guy),
the fact that you made it down SH22 yourself was a great training I can tell you that much, I can only remember the 1st time I went on 22 with the group and stopped to put on my helmet strap at the motorway off ramp(cause I forgot). And then after that realised they are no longer on the same road, so I tracked them down using a combination of bike tire marks and asking people working on the side of the road (only just caught the group around 3/4 of the way thru 22). Riding down SH22 on my 250 was a very good learning exicise..... it teaches you about your limits, steering, smothness, power, braking, where to look... you see your goal is to set an average speed, so say you should try keep to around 100~120k's as your average speed and then just adjust everything around it.

Haven't the energy to read all today's posts. Have just got back home and found that I've have done 500Miles (800Km)! Had an awesome day thanks to everyone that made today possible; specially TS, MR, SM, Quasi, the dude on the Alaster GSXR (sorry I suck with names). Sorry to hear that you have such bad luck JustSomeGuy (quick scanned this page, will read it all properly later).

Actually I'm just being a kid..

If you look at the big picture that was the best place to lose the nut as I was surrounded by good people who knew what to do. Not alone by myself in the middle of nowhere with no idea what to do.

Oh, for future reference, I carry the odd spare Metric nuts and bolts. If you are misssing one on a ride, make a point of asking around. You never know what the other riders are carrying:spudwave:

    u brave man heheheh

I suggest if you were keen on going, then you should start even earlier. like 8. it'll be bright enough, and provided there is not water from the skies the road will be dry. and it'll be cool as well. Then you can ride back same track around 11 or 12, where the road hasn't quite melted yet.

    And please, watch out for corners / bumps / dips / bridges / birds / headchogs / sand / gravel / wash outs / cows / farmers / cars / trucks / ... etc

have a good ride. whats your cell # btw?

Will take it easy don't worry.

Had a couple of wet moments today.......... I seem to overcook the left hand corners...... I can take them wayy better than the right hand ones and seem to put on too much speed....... then it's, "Oh God, please don't let me overshoot, please don't let me, HEY!!! GOD...... you listening.... FFAAAARRRRKKKKKK, phewww that was close". "I'm not doing that again......... oh shit!!!!!!, Oh Goddd, must not overshoot

ok. you need to slow down to go faster. Sounds funny I know. But you won't get your line right if you hammer it thru blind.

so go slower, relax your arms / lean into the corner / look at the exit of the corner / slow in fast out / and work that counter steering. God will only help those who help themselves

once you find the line that works, then you can work on your speed. Till then ride at 50% of your max speed, just take it easy and swing in nicely thru corners. And remember don't tighten up into the corner too soon or apex too soon, it is not the best way or the fastest way thru the corner. and most ppl do that when they ride too fast for what they are capable of. So... slow down.

And carry some energy bars / and at lease 1/2 liter of water / drink with ya. Cause you'll get bloody hot and maybe tired.

Oh, and don't take the road to Ragland from 22. Its gravel, u won't like it.

    Thumbs up thanks everyone!

Fun ride today! It was good to meet all the people that I did meet. Cheers for having me along MR and cheers for the hospitality Quasi! Having not done any proper riding in 2 months or so (i.e. after binning the FZR400 in the last KB ride I did at Whangamata), I was more or less a noob again! I am just starting to bond with my new '96 GSXR750 (bought it 3 days ago), so hopefully I'll be up to speed in a couple of weeks' time!

What a great day!!! Had a ball, sooooo many bike to drool over and good company to boot. What more could we ask for. Thanks MR for organising the day and Quasi for the BBQ and your hospitality. And of course the others for their advise, god knows I need it. Could do with an electric start whilest he is at it
Decided to leave SH22 alone for the return trip and brave the traffic on SH1, cruised through to Gordonton and Taupiri and onto the highway, traffic was no problem and a good trip home, so a great day was had

    Blimey

I always pick the best times to chuck myself down the road, missing the manfeild track day was bad enough missing this ride :disapint: what a awesome turnout, well done to sudeep and brett and all others involved in the organizing of the ride. Looks like everyone had a good time and hope that everyone out there to learn something did so.
Ah well only a few more weeks and me cast is off, there's is supposed to be a 2 week recovery period after the op, but i have selective hearing when it comes to docters. " Keep off your bike for a while sonny" yeah right
