It was truly awesome to come round the corner and see a decent sized bunch of bikes parked up & think, "I know who those people have to be, so I'd better stop to chat!"

And then watch more bikes arrive ...

    And more bikes ...

    And even more bikes ....

Start chatting with people, suggest a group "people" shot and hear more bikes arrive!

Sorry for being bossy about the photo's, but if someone's not prepared to get bossy, you miss prime chances like that, and a group shot of the biggest KB rideout to date was too good to pass up. Thanks to Bugjuice & Quasi for entrusting their camera's to my care - it looks like it was worth it.

And nice to hear that there were no mishaps at all this trip. Seems our picture taking mantra did the trick!

Besides, having a K5 600 more than makes up for sporting a rugged 150.

And whats up with the "Slow Racer" thing?
I went along to that ride expecting another novice 150 oil burner!

    Riding tips

Taking me a few days to find my way around this site. Should of been ready for this ride. Would someone email me so that I may plan the next ride with this group. Romero@xtra.co.nz

Rose Lee - when you first come onto this site...
always check out the home page for events..
plus then look at "Meetings and Events" and all rides are listed there.

Some rides are only planned a day ahead,
while others like this one was planned about two weeks ahead.
In fact some rides are only planned on the day for an evening ride...
They usually state whether its a fast ride or slower ride....
Plus you can always ask as well.. I do.

You too can also even plan a ride to wherever and when ever.....

So if ya can, check this site out regulary.

    PS: welcome to KB land.

    Hey Rose,

Dont hesitate to come on any KB ride, as KB rides are for all riding abilities If it is going to be a fast one, it will say so in the thread. Or the fast guys (not too many of us) will just PM each other to organise a ride...

So in other words turn up to the next KB ride

    A belated thanks...

Sorry for the belated follow-up - I have been on the road since the ride...

Huge thanks to MR for organising (and remembering me well enough to name me on the group pic!)
Quasi was also suberb in guiding me for some considerable distance...

I had a blast on the run down to Piopio that morning after leaving you all at Ngaurawahia. Thanks to Quasi's pointers, really started to move around on the bike, has raised my cornering speed by about 10kms/hour and because of the lack of pick-up on the GN my cruising speed has also gone up by about the same too So if you hear of someone looking stupid hanging their ar$e off the side of a GN250 then that's got to be me I guess

Had plenty of time to practice the next week, headed off to Wellington on Monday evening, a few cruises around there, back to Waitomo on Friday (via the Wellington/Featherston road (SH2), SH4 north out of Wanganui, Fields Track through to the desert road, and then SH 32 up the west of lake Taupo and then SH30 through to Te Kuiti... some great twisties on that run

Leaving Waitomo Saturday arvo the bike rolled off the kick stand on some gravel on a hill whilst I closed a farm gate, broke off the clutch lever... Rode it to Ngaurawahia clutchless, to then find my battery was flat... Double the challenge to ride clutchless with no battery! Got away with only a little bit of pushing - couldn't face the motorway so stuck to the side road beside SH1 up to Auckland and got caught out on that one-lane bridge with a traffic light where you rejoin the highway, up-hill on a red light, rolled up in neutral but it stalled when I tried to drop it into first.

Managed to get it home ok but can't wait until that new bike is ordered... think this one has had enough of me throwing it around...

See you on the next ride, I hope!

Thanks Girls/Guys. I will be out there somewhere when I get my Herbie running again.( should I say stop running) Couldnt turn the thing off. A bit spooky to see a bike coming down the road with no rider. Hopefully will have a new Solinoid? by end of week.

For the newbie ride i suppose you would need a restricted liscence to participate in order to go at highway speeds. I wouldnt mind going to one, but i only have a learner liscence. -well until september anyway.

    wow, this is old..
This ride has long gone.. check up on upcoming rides around your way for a better idea. Ideally, that'd be the case, but it's not your fault you can't. Who ever is organising the ride should take a route into account that would mean you didn't have to go on the motorway, or warn that there will be some motorway riding. Then some can hang back with you, or just sit with the rest of the bikes at 100. You'll be fine.. and enjoy it!

Back on site after a long absence, Interesting reading all the goings on. Wonder who the dick head was today 25 April on a CB900 that gave the cops a chase H/way 16. People riding in this manner need their head read. Gives the general public an image that all bike riders fit in the one group.
