Honda vtr1000 fuel range

Everyones gauge will be different and I am am never exactly the same, the fuel gauge changes lots when you go up or down a hill.

Mixture of riding style - flat out or conservative. Where you are riding hills, plains both... Weather conditions - head wind, tail wind no wind. Riding with or with our luggage etc...

All will make a difference in your fuel consumption. I didn't buy the VTR for fuel economy... I bought because its fun and its a hobby... hobby's are rarely cheap

I have an 02... and get about 250km before reserve (if I am being a good lad) but as soon as I want to play... that drops

does anyone know what year the vtr came out with a fuel gauge? i have a 1999 and only have a fuel light which isnt the best! thanks

02 models when they also put the bigger tank on it... earlier models hade the fuel light of doom... but you use your trip metre

i have a bit of a heavy hand too so that doesnt help! i do have two brothers exhausts do you think that might effect my fuel usage? maybe its not jetted to suit? thanks

VTR's are just plain thirsty, especially around town. Dunno what L/100km I was getting, but I got similar mileage to you, which I worked out once was around 28mpg.

It's the "Orangey-Red LED of Doom" - ignore it at your peril. One day when I had my VTR, I repeatedly ignored it ("I'll just fill up later, at the XYZ station on the way to/home from work...") It started spluttering on the way home, and by the time I cracked a u-turn, it was completely out of gas. Coasted much of the way to the nearest gas station, but the last 100m or so in full leathers, uphill, was a killer. It took 16.3L to fill up, so not only was it empty, but so were the lines, the carbs, etc.

= an average of 7.1L/100KM. Note that most of this is pleasure riding and commuting, the 5.8 outlier was the only one that included any motorway Ks. All of this was directly after an oil change, plugs and an air filter. On an 05 with Scorpion cans, I suspect it might be a touch rich and I haven't had the carbs balanced yet, I'll keep recording and give some more figures in a month or so. Run on 96 or 98 octane.

I've noticed my reserve light can come on quite early, with about 13 or 14 litres used.

Not that bad really guys,The TLS is truly shocking all things considered and the paltry 17l tank doesnt help at all.
