I dunno about these modern inline V twin Guzzi's - a real Guzzi is a single,their real fame was built on them.I rode this exact model Falcone often,the very last made...red frame white tank.

PS....I know where there is a 1974 Stornello 160,12,000 original km,one owner...has been neglected for many years....I can put a word in the owners ear....

Paul, prehaps a little info for the punters about Guzzi... correct me if I get it all ballsed up.

Italy's largest motorcycle for much of its long history, Guzzi dates back to the closing years of the first World war when three air corps friends, Carlo Guzzi, giorgio Parodi and Giovanni Ravelli, planned a bike firm.
After Ravelli was killed in a flying crash, the other two adopted the air corps eagle symbol in his honour. In 1920 Carlo Guzzi designed the firms first bike a 500cc four stroke with a single horizontal cyl.

The first Guzzi actually came out in 1919 but it was knowen as the Guzzi Parodi but Parodi dident want his name on the bike as he belived it was all Guzzi's doing Parodi was an engineer and built the bikes as Guzzi asked.

Moto Guzzi was always ahead of its time being the first firm to re use the oil that spilled out of the head gear and redirected it to the drive chain..... kinda like a Scott oiler.
Guzzi built the V8 in 54 it was a water cooled 500cc quad cam four valve per cyl 90 degree the v8 reved to 12,000rpm and produced 72bhp and was timed at a phenomenal 178mph thats 286kph

Guzzi also produced a super charged singles, v2's both transverse and like the Duc's, a super charged triple and inline four's

Err, don't think it was 4 valve /cylinder. But a nice motor for all that

emmm... I am sure that it is 4valves per cyl (would be hard for a 2v to rev out at 12,000rpm) I have posted on a Oz Guzzi forum the question so I may stand corected shortley. MG were using 4valves very early on its funny how they started of with 4v dohc and a few other trick bits but the MG today is a 2v push rod rocker engine.

Not really. I'm far more obsessed with poxy old british bikes...

What I like about Guzzi is their history and engineering. They have tried and raced just about everything and usually 10 years before it became fasionable. They were racing OHC V twins before messter Ducati was even born! Sadly, Moto Guzzi has been raped by a succession of profit taking owners and yet still they stagger on due to the rightness of the original '60's design.

While the old ones are basically reliable, they need constant tinkering and thats part of the fun! (to me) They are addictive though! And at sane speeds. Stuffing the old girl into a corner and chopping the C/R box through the gears just to hear her bellow above the whine of the straight cut gears would put a horn on a dead jellyfish!

But utterly the best thing about them are the owners. A better bunch of lost souls you will never meet!
