Don't forget the motard section of Visordown or the granddaddy of them all - the supermoto yahoo group.
I'll take that as a yes for support. Thanks for popping in. Sweet, I didn't know those links... You've helped already...

Sounds like a fine idea, make sure you make use of it if/when you get it. Do you see the forum in the Competitive Riding section or elsewhere?

For a start, it's own section would be good, similar to sports/road, or hogs/cruisers.

If not, then I suppose a sub catagory would suffice. Somewhere where it won't conflict with other sections or create confusion...

Can't say I'd thought about it that much, just trying to get support at this stage.

    Thanks for yours.

Me no know about polls.... Except for those buggers that stick out on the side of the road that hurt when you hit them...

    Good point, I'll investigate.

It's a good idea just from a organisation / categorisation point of view.

    Do it.

    Hell yes!

I've got two at the moment.

Go motards! Nothing better in this world than embarrassing a litre sport bike on a 'gutless chook chaser'

    rotflmfao!

Ahhh, and thats where it gets tricky, a motard is surely a race bike and therefore will need a home in the racing section?
Otherwise we already have the Adventure/Dual Purpose Bikes forum?
Any racing reports etc should end up in the racing forum, agree? As the sports riders do, track days etc are in the racing section.

I agree, it is tricky. There are a lot of people who have them for road bikes too. There are many with DRZ400SM's, a few with the newer KTM690's etc.
There will also be the dual guys that have 17" wheels for their bikes for motard use.

Therein lies the issue. The info is all over the place.

I think most guys will be happy to just have a central source for all things motard, even if it is in the racing section. It may not all be about racing though...

BUT... The sports/road crowd also have a general chat section....

The road ones are always heavier and less powerful than the dedicated machines.... Apples and oranges...

For example, the 690 SM is approx 152kg's.... That's a far cry from your bike. Just the same as the DRZ400SM is 'fat' compared to the enduro model... Still only around 135kg's though...
My KTM 690SMC is 139kg and makes something over 60HP.
Pretty soon it'll be close to 70HP and maybe 130-135kg.

DRZ?......exscuse me.......har! har! har! har! har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!har! har! har! har!

and yes, it's a reliable road going bike and surprisingly comfy.

my old 2003 640SM managed to get to over 30,000km before I sold it and the head hadn't been off since it was new. It was still going fine and not blowing smoke or rattling.
Change the oil every few thousand kms; oil's cheap, broken four strokes are fukkin expensive!

General chat is for everyone, and even if its in the racing section, it doesnt have to be all about racing, check out the bucket forum, plenty of stuff happening there? Would people be happy to have a seperate forum located under Competition Riding similar to the Bucket forum?

That was all a dig back at Quasi... And I was quoting the SM, not the SMC...
