I'm having a BBQ so can't be there tomorrow, but looks like the rain would keep me away as well - I don't want to put Little Boy off biking for life!

After that I'm away for a month over Christmas, so won't be along to any rides til Feb. Anyone going up through the Haast Pass stop in a Makarora and say gidday - I'll either be lying beside the pool or doing sanity restoring overnighters to surrounding environs.

I'll be online so feel free to PM if you want a place to stop the night ~

Just to let you know... there is a scattering of gravel on the same corner that was the scene of last weeks accident (end of a straight, just before Governor's Bay, coming from Sumner). Or there was this morning anyway...

    Wow what a ride.
In the car park I decided that I didn't really feel like Duvauchelles. Thought I might just head home. Maybe do a little detour along tunnel road.
Well I'm already on tunnel rode says I, might as well stop off in Lyttleton.
Already in Lyttleton might as well take Dyer's pass home. Can't hurt.
Oh look some bikers heading down Dyer's pass, maybe I can catch up to them?
Nope, missed them. But I'm already on the way to Wheatsheaf so I might as well continue.
Oh cool I did catch them! I'll follow them to Little River and then turn back.
Little River. Oh man where have they gone? Maybe they've taken some crazy secret route to Duvauchelle, I'll catch them there.
In Duvauchelle. Wow how did this happen?

But the ride back was even better!

Sunstrike hadn't really set in yet, I was tailing anyone, nobody was tailing me. Was passed by Mr TDR who gave me a heartwarming thumbs up (I like to know I'm doing ok, so that was great!), and had fun tailing him for a bit til he turned off.

Now a while ago when I was researching bikes, I decided to look into the quirks of two strokes. Funny beasts really. Do this thing called "seizing" from time to time I read, and if this happens pull in the clutch and hope.

Mr TDR turns off and I'm sailing along when *click grind click stop* and me being a former boy scout I pull in the clutch and say, "Oh. This is what they meant."

Cue me damning that this happened after the other two stroke disappeared and frantically wondering if things could ever be the same. So I kick and I kick. And kick again. Then notice my lights are on, chuckle (read: curse), give it a kick and LIFE! Not much but it's there. Let it idle, thank my stars and take off rather boggily.

Later in the journey, whilst pondering how I could describe this incident on KB, and this time mid not-too-tight corner *click grind click stop* clutch in, pull over and I am not a happy chappy. Take off helmet, glare at sheep in the field across from me, and spent 5 minutes finding neutral. Eventually found and the kicking begins. Leg and ankle get sore. Kicking ends. In desperation I do the stupid but effective hand kick start, and oh my god it works! Back on and decide that taking it easy is probably the healthy thing to do for the both of us.

I made it home, and here we are. So is there anything I need to do now that my bike has seized? Or is it ok? It ran fine from out way past Tai Tapu to back here, and takes off ok etc. Just wondering if I need to fix anything (have anything fixed).

Sorry for the big monologue. Just stoked I made it home to be honest hah.

And Dave where were you? I wanted to exchange knowing expressions over Saturday

Hey man, cool bike for one
I actually just got it back from the workshop after not having it for a week.
    It received:
    - New plug
    - New exhaust gasket
    - Carb setting checked
    - Air filter cleaned
    - Oil changed
    - New clutch
I have no idea what most of this involves. I understand most of the words but wouldn't have a clue how any of them were done/would work. Any suggestions?

the fact that it behaved strangely directly after getting it back from the workshop would strongly suggest that its behaviour is related to the work done on it.I would take it straight back to whoever did the work and tell them what happened.if they are anything like a decent mechanic, they will put it right.

Mint I will give them a ring tomorrow. Not that it will be easy to hand it back, having just gotten it and all. Thanks!
