Kiwitrackdays do the Pukekohe events - next day by the look of it is in November

Otherwise you can do what are called 'controlled testing' days - different from proper trackdays in that there are sessions for cars as well. And no where near as organised (read - "safe") as the proper trackdays.

I've been to a few "controlled testing" days, and you're right. It's a bit rough-and-ready. They usually only have one bike group - all experience levels. And it's rotated in with three other groups of cars.

The price is right, but you get what you pay for. On the other hand, you'd better give it a try while you can. It's the longest, fastest back straight in the country, the stuff of legends! There aren't many other places you can push it out to 270 without oncoming traffic. But those days are gone for me, I've been motarded and the best I can manage is 175! The long straights are for taking a break nowdays.

Ive been 'youtubing' it up, and it looks like a pretty rad track ay! Lucky the VFR wont do 270 or there may be a few new stains in the leathers

Ill see how I go, might just turn up on the day and give it a whirl. If I get there itll be my first race so plenty to learn, might as well learn the track while im at it

    Hmm

If it's your first track day (and you're determined to try Puke), I would suggest you attend one of the bike-only days hosted by Kiwi or the AMCC. The days put on by Pukekohe themselves tend to favour the experienced track dayer. Where other outfits give a safety briefing, have bike scrutineering, have on-track marshals, and corner-workers, the Puke guys just announce, "BIKES!! Five minutes!" and you're on your own.

Hell, you're closer to Taupo, why not attend a MotoTT track day? They place an emphasis on safety and encourage riding at your own pace. It would be better to get your feet wet there before venturing out to Puke.

Don't get me wrong, Puke is a huge thrill, but I wouldn't want you to be put off track days by having your first experience be uncomfortable or intimidating.

Bloody tempting I must say Kiwifruit. Ill be in Gizzy for xmas, so maybe coming back to Tauranga via Taupo may be on the cards Somewhat of a detour though

Main things I want to race are the summer series at Taupo, and Paeroa, and I need to get in 3 club rounds before I can do a street race, so if the enduro counts as a club race I might do that one instead of Puke? Maybe Ill do them all (note to self, rob bank)
