Mr Clifford did not supply details of the crash. A Hastings firestation spokesperson told Hawke's Bay Today that the fire service did not attend any crash in Ocean Beach Road that afternoon.

The fact it was a man with a little speed gun would suggest it wasn't a speed camera and therefore a HP or normal cop would it no Spud???

And the spin the Senior cops have put on it is utter shit and leaves me wondering why the f**k our taxes go into a force that has specilised to the extent it cant see beyond its narrow minded focus of saving lives through fining people for 111km! The asher case (sp?), farmers wife and cases like this leave the public with little respect and confidence in people who should be upstanding members of our nation. Vigilante justice and anarchy are approaching fast.

This sort of thing doesn't suprise me at all. Their no1 priority seems to be gathering revenue from NZers, what aload of shit. They couldn't give a shit about the road toll, they use the road toll as an excuse for this bs .

Hey Will - the weasel response from the Hastings area commander Inspector Dean Clifford made no mention of any of the above????

I reckon you would make a better PR/damage control person than Clifford. The best he could do was come up with a spurious accident in the area.

As Merv wrote - Police are losing respect at an ever increasing rate and Politicians need to tackle the problem.................

Do you know that ACC have paid the government for the STOP buses that do the drink driving tests and that they have also paid for so many man hours of police time on those buses. So if a buglary happens near a STOP bus, the staff (theoretically) wont do anything else but the bus.

Personally I think if your going to drive it should be completely unacceptable to have and alcohol in your system at all

I don't know what it is like down in the Hutt Valley but when "boy racers" gather in large numbers in my area they tend to make a nuisance of themselves and we get heaps of complaints about them doing skids and the loud "boom boom" stereos. If thats the case I can understand the cops treating people with some contempt, (because it is a pain in the arse and they would rather be doing something else).
