Cheers for the reply SpC - good to hear a bit of a balanced view and from the "other side" too.
"The other side"! That sounds so Darth Vaderish.

Is it an actual requirement to join the Police with a full drivers license? I know of people joining with no license, must admit not recently, but it has happened.

Care to tell us what these were?

It is a requirement to have a full licence however the wing of 17 - 19 year olds was a bit of an experiment and a few were allowed in on restricted licences. They were required to obtain their full licences as soon as possible though as holding a restricted licence would create all sorts of operational problems. Not being able to drive a patrol car on your own after 10:00Pm isn't an ideal situation.

Yes I thought you were coming. Didn't think you had learnt to balance on two wheels yet.

You mean the rest of KB also doesn't like you riding with them?

I feel sorry for you mate, first you must have been abused as a child ( hence your love of others mums) and it's obvious you can't have many friends with your stupid attitude.

    Get well soon :disapint:

When all these overpaid autocue readers and columnists start taking public swipes at cops, you can safely bet that there's strong public thinking along the same lines.
But, what the hell, cops can't be wrong. It's the ill-informed public's fault.
Anyone recognise a 'them and us' attitude among some of our Police members.

In Upper Hutt there are several compulsory stop intersections on 50kph roads where there is at least 50 meters visability in both directions. My feelings are, if you can see there is nothing comming and no reason to stop, why would you?

Now I know the Police didn't mark up these stupid intersections, but I have to say, I would be pretty pissed off if I got ticketed through one of these intersections when there was no good reason for me to stop!

We could do the same at traffic lights! Oh, that's right, some already do and they crash too! Just like people at stop signs (and give way signs).

Funnily enough none of them ever crash into vehicles they DID see!!
Maybe it's just best to stop eh?
    And LOOK too.

Stop signs are often installed after a serious or fatal crash or for some other reason the intersection has been identified as particulary risky.

My position on them is that during busy traffic hours you had better stop or at least slow to walking speed before proceeding. Any time other than during peak traffic flows I don't mind people cruising slowly through the intersection. Some people think its OK to just slow down a little, change down a gear as they approach and then floor it through the intersection. These are the ones that get a ticket regardless of the time or traffic conditions.
