Err sorry officer but that person left their car window open and that laptop and cellphone should not been in the car either. Along with that, when I looked through their CD collection in the glove box, I found the keys to the ignition!
So it not my fault bbbbwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! :confused2
Mate - my point is that it's a bit petty policing that type of 'crime' that had no dangerous aspect to it whatsoever (read my earlier post describing the road - other Wgtnonians would back me up on that). Sure she committed this horrendous crime and paid for it but where's the common sense in policing that type of rubbish?

well at least the last time I looked. It does not make exceptions nor does it get concerned by what "other Wgtnonians would back me up". I am not trying to be rude but accept it and move on, its what most reasonable Kiwis would do

If you want "by the book" I'll have to ticket everyone that dawdles through a stop sign and that might piss a few people off. Can't please evryone though I guess and why should i care if a few people get annoyed? Fuck em, tehy should stick to the rules.

Thanks you've made me realise the errors of my ways and now I'll be ticketing every evil road criminal that fails to stop at my stop signs!
I re-read your previous post and started to regret my "sarcastic" response but then I realised you completely contradicted yourself.

Look, I understand that laws need to be black and white, but life isn't black and white so we have courts to "hopefully" temper the laws around a given offence (else trials would never consider mitigating facts or carry variable sentences). But when it comes to traffic offences, lets face it, there is no such thing as a fair trial for the motorist. So some may expect that since the police have effectivly been made Judge, Jury, and Executioner it becomes their job to see the shades of grey.

ps your last post came across as very "uncontrolled" (I called myself Clockwork because I thought I was easily wound up)

If all stop signs were used appropriately, I would agree, but my point is that often they are mis-placed (as opposed to misplaced ) by local authorities. If you then get ticketed for driving "safely" through one you are bound to feel hard done by.

I have to concur with Clockwork.

I have taken a pragmatic approach to stop signs probably all my life. If I arrive at a stop sign and find that I am able to proceed safely - I do so. If I am unable to proceed safely - I stop.

I do that because it seems to make sense and I am pleased to report that so far no one, including the writer has suffered from a consequence. It just so happens that there has been a law set in place that requires one to stop - no matter what.

But like a lot of other (traffic) laws that 'do not make sense', a plethora of enforcement officers are required to enforce them. Oh well it helps reduce the unemployment stats. And employs people who enjoy their job.

Nope, you still don't get it. What I said was that I give a little discretion at stop signs, thats my choice, however for anyone that gets a ticket for not stopping I'm saying don't whine about it because you know perfectly well what "STOP" means. If you elect to flaut the rule its your choice, if a cop sees you do it he can give you a ticket, or not, thats his choice.

Anyone can defend a traffic ticket in Court, its your choice again so use it if you feel so harshly treated.

    Arrow Blaa.

THIS THREAD HAS TURNED TO RUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!
It was suposed to be about the public image, not some nancy boy complaining about the local ploddy giving them a ticket.
Who ever it was that drove through the stop sign, your whining like a child
You would have known at the time that you was breaking the law, yet you done it anyway. Some people...
