SR250 trouble turning over

Guys, my wifes SR250 hasn't been run for a couple of months. I replaced the
battery, but she still won't turn over. There's just a 'click' from under the seat
somewhere about where the battery is.There's no kickstart, so I can't turn the motor over that way. Any idea's ?

trace the wire from the starter - bet it goes under the seat to a thingy-gig, and I bet the thingy-gig is the part going 'click' (solenoid????).

Bump start it down the drive to your Honda dealer and buy a nice new bike

The click is from the starter relay so that proves that the start switch is connected to the starter relay. To tell if the start relay is working you need to measure the voltage at the starter motor with a volt meter - if voltage is there then it's brushes or buggered starter motor. No voltage is buggered relay or loose contancts or possibly even a flat battery. Bump start it and run it for half an hour and see if it starts OK after that. These bikes are hard to kill and if it went before the lay up it will go again.

Most likely cause

If the solenoid is clicking then it's doing it's job properly so then the cause is beyond that point, the starter motor itself.

It could be gunked up from brush material but more than likely the brushes have worn down to their service limit and aren't contacting the armature properly.
A short sharp tap with the handle of a screw-driver etc on the exposed end of the starter motor could free it up.
Otherwise a new set of brushes are in order.

Check the connections on the battery , solinoid & starter.Could be bad,loose connection,If they are dry undo and apply some grease.Tighten and try starting.Good luck
