Brussels

Here's a few pictures of the amazing city of Brussels. Be aware that some of these buildings qre older than European history in NZ.

The first picture has an interesting story too. It's an old cathedral, and if you look you can see that the the left side of it is much longer than the right side. This wasn't meant to be like this and the architect only noticed the mistake when he was right at the top. He looked down and saw it was uneven and he jumped off. Don't know if it's true or not - but have been told by three or four people. Makes an interestiung story even if it isn't.

The first three pics are from "La Grande Place" - which is where we hung out drinking screwdriver all night. And from there, bars and pubs are very close and easy to find. Even one of the most famous bars in Belgium - Delirium.

The 4th one is of a fountain very close to my house where I went today to lay in the shade with a couple of Finnish students, an Icelandic and a girl from the Czech Republic.

It's a wicked city aye bro (from what I remember anyway... was pretty drunk). It blows ya away the age of some of this shit dunnit? My missus's old house is 820yrs old... Maoris probably hadn't even landed in nz then.

Did you get to check the statue of the pissing kid? And I highly recommend Brugge if you can get out there, it's stunning.

It's just funny to think that you can make best friends in a matter of days, and thanks to AFS, it's possible with some of the coolest people I know. And even funnier...all my real good friends here seem to be from way the fuck up north - Iceland, Finland, Norway...I see a pattern?
