2009 cbr600rr and cbr1000rr first look (ABS option?)

Just had a feeling it was about time Honda revealed the 2009 updates. This news just in.

The 600 looks like the same bike but better. 3% more torque at 10000rpm should make the power even more usable (for a 600cc IL4).

Interesting lower fairing changes that cover up the engine. Not sure I like that now that I'm used to my minimalist fairings. So much for no-cut crash knobs on the '09 model

Blade is just getting a paint job this year aside from the newest addition to both models (as an option).... ABS

Can't wait to see what people think about the ABS system Honda have come up with. I laughed at it at first but it sounds like they've gone for the same principle as the HESD electronic steering damper - i.e. you shouldn't even know it's there. Look forward to some first ride reviews!

    I like better bikers.
But then again, the old bikers are good bastards as well.

Any word on other models being released?

spelling checker wouldn't pick that one up either.

Haven't seen reference to any other models but I'm sure the news will flow quickly now.

Correct. It is normally this time of year when the new toys come out.
With all the cancelled models (Blackbird, VTR, etc), Honda's unveiling could be quite entertaining.

The 600 is meant to be changing shape, so i wouldnt get too excited about the colours...
Look forward to seeing the real "new" cbr600rr.

    Nice photo shop though.

They Repsol blade has been out this year too, but not brought into nz.

The press release is pretty clear it's minimal styling changes which would fit with the 2 year update vs 4 year total redesign.

Normally I'd be skeptical but I think these might be legit.

MCN are in on it too.

If this photo showing the new lower fairings is a photoshop job then it's very well done. Especially where they've added those tubes by the pegs that don't exist on my 08 model.

Honda may well make excellent machinery but it looks like they'll never come up with anything resembling a decent paint scheme

Slipper clutch = Big weight saving.
Gear indicator = Who needs it (ok I admit it would be handy for trackdays where it's one less thing to have on your mind)
Dash = Functional. Doesn't look a cool as the R6 dash but it's clearer to read.

I've botched a few down-shifts and the fake slipper clutch sorta works. Only once had it hopping. Wouldn't let it put you off unless you're a mega fast rider (which I'm not).

Which they fuckin need with 11kg of ABS on the stupid thing!

I would much prefer a slipper clutch than ABS

These can't be real pics. The 1000 STILL looks fugly I wonder how long it will take Honda to sort that one out

all good points, and yes it is mostly stuff i wouldnt need but if you let the rest move on too far you fall behind. im in no way a honda basher. ive waited 12 months (saving like a bastard) for the 09 to come along and its just not what i expected. when you can pick up a new 07 gsxr for under 14 grand it makes me ask the question is the honda worth 3 grand more? im just thinking out loud here really so dont hold it against me haha
