UK riding, better than I thought!

Hey Dudes and Dudess's

Well I have to say having resisted getting back to the UK and kicking and screaming all the way, I have been oh so pleasantly surprised. Never rode much over here to be honest, and got spoilt to death over in NZ, with the sheer beauty of it.....but.........

I have adopted the local Triumph Dudes, as my new mates, and one of them offered me a piggy back on his Sprint, so jumped on board, and whizzed round the Worcestershire area, getting on those B roads, with hardly any cars, almost reminded me of NZ again, its obviously been pissing down here, as everything is so green and huge..........

Winding around Worcestershire, and bending it like Beckham around the windy Welsh Roads in2 Llandudno, was exhilarating and fun, my mate can throw his bike around, which frightens the life out of me as I will get left behind when Tex comes over here (My Trumpy which is following me back to the UK)

Llandudno, looked like a sad pier fronted dump of a place in the misty grey clouds which had lowered around us and didnt make for a very nice time in Llandudno, so a quick coffee, candyfloss, and we buggered off. Shame really sure it looks fab in the sun.....

We got the the UK/Welsh boarders and as I looked over a fenceline into the widening countryside I had honestly forgotton how beautiful parts of England are, you just have to get off you arse to enjoy them, thats all.....It all looked Lush and beckoning me to enjoy it, so cant wait to get riding over here.

Sure its not NZ, but am gong to make the most of it, and get across to Ireland next summer and up to The Bonny Land of Scotland, with my Bonny which I know will make me cry and it so reminds me of the mountains around Otago.....oh well

But for the time I back, before I come bouncing back to you guys, Europe is my playground and I for one am going to thoroughly enjoy it.

Now I know what that saying means......."Its not the getting there its the Ride there" and in Llandudno's case, it was certainly the ride away from the unfriendly dark clouds which placed a smile on me dial......

Going to hope like mad that customs free my bike up for the Ace Cafe Race down to Brighton for the Mods and Rockers Weekend, failing that I shall be partying on in Andover with my new Trumpy Mates........at a Pissy Triumphy Do......only thing with being in a triumph gang, is I miss taking the piss out of the Jap bikes, oh well cant have everything I guess.

PS IDB, when you read this, would obviously rather be clinging onto the back of your bike, which I shall be when we ride on up 2 ACDC eh mate149 days till that head bouncing concert mate, wooooohooooo and when you pick me up from the airport, I shall knock you over in sheer excitment and lick your face, and run round in circles around you, my bestest friend in the whole wide world

Yes, those B-Roads are pretty well kept.

Welsh visitors I know to NZ call it "Wales without all the rain."

If you can get out there, the good roads are there to be found in the UK.

Even in the London area, you can find good roads to ride (just 20 miles from Hyde Park in the centre of London is Epping Forest and there are some excellent roads round there).

Scotland is always raved over; as is Wales. I would say be very careful of your speed in Wales. The evil that is Brunstrom may be retiring, but his maniacal attitude towards speeding is still popular amongst the heads of the Welsh constabulary.

As regards Ireland, be prepared for road quality to slide once you're away from the main population centres. Ireland got a lot of investment from the EU to build new roads a few years back, so there are some great surfaces. But I know when we went from Killarney to Tralee and then to Dingle, the road quality worsened markedly.

If you want to ride somewhere a little different that people seem to miss, try Norfolk. Have a look here to see a trip that my wife and I took to Norfolk, when we stayed in a Tipi on the North Norfolk coast.

But get out there and enjoy! Decent back roads can be found, just have fun finding them!
