100% agree, but if it is windy im sure someone will be willing to head around pauatahanui inlet instead.

This sounds like a mint idea.

I'll be taking it pretty easy at any rate, new bike and stuff, but a good way to get to know it!

My gas bill is starting to look like a small planet...(bizarre analogies 101)

I'm looking forward to this!! Once we've shifted house (we're becoming Hutt peeps) and I have Betty settled into her new carport I'll work on getting her (and I) geared up for some riding. Yay!
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

    Any restrictions...

Is there any restriction on bike size? I ask as I have a bantam (called Gertrude), which is slow and tops out at 50 mph. i love riding Gertrude and would really enjoy doing such a ride on her.

All bikes welcome. As the thread title say's, it's a 'cruisy' ride not a race. Regular stops to let stragglers catch up
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Thanks for the replies people.... Will probably get some more miles under my belt then tackle a group ride with you and the 'takas. I would rather do it in the dry for the first time. NEed to build the confidence in the wet....

    David.
Remember .. not everyone goes over the Takas .. sometimes (due to time constraints) some people do shorter trips not involving them.

Made almost all of them last year and intend to do the same this time.

Dave as long as your confident riding in a 100kmh area (even if your not quite going that fast) you should be able to hande the ride. IIRC there was only one wednesday last year which was wet so that shouldnt be a problem. It can get windy at the top of the Takas but on those days the group will usually decide to go over the haywards instead which are pretty sheltered.
