Looking for an inexpensive mid size bike

I am looking for upgrade from my 400.
Looking for a reliable, inexpensive bike in the 500-750 range.

    Budget around $5K

Something that is good mix for commuting and a bit of spirited riding at the weekend.

I love my ZZR but I have the opportunity to move up so I'm taking it.

Sorry it may be out of your parameters but.........

.....try a real tidy FJ1200 - bulletproof, nice low low seat height and user friendly power, - and plenty of it on tap, but not intimidating. Have FUN

Only one bike to consider, RF900

    500-750 Range

Sounds like a sensible step up. Your used to high revving power. The budget is in an unusual space, not much around the $5k mark but where there's money, theres always a sale possible. Do you have to sell the ZZR first? How much riding experience, and what type of riding have you done? Do you want an in-line-four, parallel twin or v-twin? There is the SV650, a great bike for a twin and always a reasonable price, good at track days etc (which is an excellent way to network and learn new riding skills). You could look at the GSXR600 or 750, or even go for the Kawa or Triumph equivilant. PM DMNTD as he is in the know and always keen to help out

    Cheers guys.

A couple of suggestions that I hadn't really thought about.

I'm trying to work my budget up a little but the Mrs isn't in agreement.

Plenty of fun bikes in that price range, hell I bought an RF900 for $2950 prior to the current bike, was looking for a 750 but that came up, so you just never know what you may find or end up liking. I personally found the RF900 a very easy bike to ride, especially for a big bike. Its a very fast bike (135bhp) but wont pull your arms off under hard acceleration, also an absolute doddle around town, I used to ride it everyday, commute & ride it long distance, 300km + to a tank of gas (21 litre). Super reliable bikes, good for HUGE km's they are & still to this day hold a long distance world record, something like 24hours long maintaining an average speed of 268km/h with two stock RF's.

Anyway, I got mine at 75,000, did 15,000km's on it & sold it for $4200 lol

Plenty of bargins out there if you are looking for them

Save the spirited riding for the track.

I know where you can get a well looked after GSX-R 750 srad race bike.
