    A brilliant day out!

I went out for an absolutely brilliant ride today with hubby.
Needed to get out and release some frustrations, so we ended up going to Bealy Spur, which is half way to the West Coast. 10 mins from Aurthers Pass. Roughly 2 hours to get there. Got there just before it rained, renowned for rain in this part of the world, had a pie and a pint, a look round and headed back.
Highlight of the trip was climbing Porters Pass. Not so highlight of the trip was descending Porters Pass, though I though I did ok.
Being hubby's bike, I didnt have to worry about the petrol side of things. Full tank, piece of piss, no worries, well this is what I was told by his lordship. Im still getting to know my new baby, so trusted his judgement.
Ha, 1 km out from West Melton and what happens?????
    I fucken runnout of petrol!!!!
He was riding ahead of me as thats what I told him to do, so he didnt notice me missing for about 10 minutes. He was waiting further up the road for me to come along!
Anyways seeing as I was only a km away from petrol station I decided to look after myself and push the bike to get my fuel, in 20 degree heat, kitted out in bike gear, I could have died!!!!
So he comes looking for me, finds me, urges me on in my struggle to get to the petrol station and decides to meet me there. Prick!! I need that motivation
Im laughing about it now, cause its funny, but damn, that was sooooo not funny at the time!
I had a well deserved beer when I got home!
It was a brilliant day out!

Live your life in such a way,
that when your feet hit the floor in the morning,

    Satan shudders & says....'Oh shit!....she's awake!!'

Sounds like a fun day ... apart from having to push your bike! It's that sort of thing that makes a ride memorable I guess.
Mrs Oakie and I hope to break the shackles of winter with a similar ride this weekend. Not sure where but we'll probably head somewere up between Waipara and Kaikoura.

I'll bet from now on you become an independent woman and monitor your new bike's fuel yourself. After all, you can only improve on his effort.

Good on ya for having a ride together! Nice country in that area.
