    Anyone have a wii console?

I was in a Noel Leemings today and saw a couple of people playing with Nintendos wii console. It looked pretty fun. If you have one, can you tell me what you like/dislike about it and what accessories would you recommend?
    Thanks...

    Thumbs up

Yeah man, well funny watching people playing boxing.

Wii sports comes with it and that will keep you sorted for a while, then if you want fun games several people can play look at Mario and Sonic Olympics.

we have one. of the games in wii sports I like the tennis as it is very easy to get the hang of and even with vistors playing it is not hard to get a decent rally going. Bowling is quite good too.
The only game I brought for it is Tiger woods which is pretty cool. All in all I spend very little time on it TBH. Maybe fire it up once even couple of months or so.

yeah i got one. great fun especially when mates come round. you can play all the games off the gamecube on it and download games from the nes, snes, master system, mega drive, geo geo, turbo graffix, n64.

the controller system is great and for first person shooters it kicks ass. if you buy one make sure you get wii play too as it comes with another controller

If you shake the controller too much, it can get stuffed... to fix it, grab the other end and shake it the way you did. Well yeah... too much viberation can damage the inside's sensor thingy...

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking that the $500 can go towards a down payment on a new bike...

They are a pretty sweet console, they don't really match the PS3 or Xbox 360 graphics wise, but if you just want to things to look pretty vs having decent gameplay I'd recommend instead of a console you watch Girls of the Playboy Mansion.

Anyway, as far as accessories and such go, you really need 2 of the Wii Remotes to make the thing worth it. However one of these on their own will set you back about $100 so I recommend this:
    http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Games/1526233.html
Its a Wii remote (note does not include the nun-chuck) and a game called Wii Play for ~$80. The game isn't that great but its better than the alternative.

I've gotten myself the guitar hero 3 kit as well (2xguitars and the game) which was about $170, that game is freaking awesome.

Lots of people question the Wii because it doesn't seem on par with the other consoles in its generation, one thing put me across the line as far as which one to choose and that was the Wii online software store. Nintendo have opened up alot of their back catalogue of games (NES, SNES, N64 + others) and you can buy these games to download and play them. Up until the PS1 Nintendo dominated the home console market and the games reflect this, I probably play the downloaded games more than the Wii games.

A Wii is also a great party console, just be aware those that are new to the concept often accidently break lamps and hit other people because they get a little too 'into' the game.

Yeah boxing can be a great fun! At first, you get to punch towards the TV screen but if you play long enough, the console will be directing your challenger's head rather than the TV...

    Great fun...

I have two game setups. a XBox 360 full High Def setup, 106" widescreen and full 5.1 sound.

And a Wii on a smaller TV upstairs.

We play the Wi all the time and hardly touch the xBox.

Simply put - its a load of fun!

Forget the graphics - its all about playability and the Wii wins that contest hands down - reflected in the sales figures btw.

It does look like a blast. What I am concerned about is forking out the money and then having it sit and gather dust. I have a friend who says he loves his wii and plays it all the time.

I'm thinking watching the girls of playboy mansion may be the way to go, or use the cash towards a new bike. The wife isn't too keen on either of those, though she does think a few of the babes on the mansion are hot.
