This is the very reason I have been to the same GP for 12 years now. I see him about maybe once every couple of years, but he's never let me down.
I'd seriously get a second doctor to have a look at your knee. You are entitled to question the diagnostic of the She-Bitch that just wasted your time. The trouble is, it can get a little expensive to find the right one.

This may infact turn out to be useless advice...but I cant help myself..
Having fought reasonably hard to get drs to take my sore foot seriously, I finally got a diagnoses (sp?) after 3mths...from my physio. Maybe you could go see your physio, its covered by ACC anyway and I found our local place a lot more thorough than the GP's, oh and they have NEVER asked me to get a smear done...
