Why is it, that those of you who are of the tanned variety (black/whatever) feel the need to try and intimidate those in other vehicles/people walking, by trying to stare down those in other vehicles/those walking along the road? Is it in your genes? Some sort of way of marking your territory?...I get stared down alot. No reason, just stared at(you know your being watched right) you look back and a car full of nig.....um tanned persons glaring at you and won't budge their gaze, as if theyr'e waiting for you to react to thereby authorise a retaliation of epic preportions.......correct? no? whats the fucken problem? Sure Iv'e had this happen before, but not everyday. I'm not doing anything different, not being particularly threatening or offensive, can someone explain this idiotic shit to me?

I find this kind of stereotyping of people short sighted and rather boring – however you have highlighted a real issue, and not just for south Auckland; Being intimidated and stared down by groups you described as from the ‘tanned variety (black/whatever)’.

I wonder if there’s a real threat or it’s mostly imagined due to our insecurities and distrust of another culture - and our reaction only encourages them to do it more.

Some marginalised people do actually feel like they have little control over their own destiny and future (wrongly or rightly) – and resent the control others can exercise over them, like; public servants, teachers, doctors, politicians, police have been predominately white middle class people who live in places like Whenuapai. So I guess it’s a buss for them to be able to intimidate us so easily and exercise some form of control over us.
