Having been born and raised in Downey, California (next to South central LA) I must say I find the gangsters here much less intimidating than the real ones I was used to seeing. In places back in the L.A., many/most gangsters really do carry guns and use them regularly. While having any huge guy(s) giving you the death stare isn't fun, most here aren't true psychopathic killers. Here, they can get all tough, because they don't have to worry that I MAY be carrying my Glock 9 and not take their shit. Staring at someone can get you killed.

When my Masterton born and raised Kiwi wife came to LA in '94, she was shocked at the amount of gunfire that took place, every night. Usually a few dozen shots heard a night would be common, as were helicopters roaring overhead, police/ambulance sirens at all hours of the night. We were living in Venice, about a block from the boardwalk. Huge gang area, that they don't want the tourists to know about. I told her that New Years Eve we would hear hundreds of shots going off. She thought I was kidding, I wasn't. You'd hear rapid fire machine guns shooting.
There were a bunch of thugs that lived down from us. I knew a few of them and they weren't a problem. They spent their time fucking each other up. Most weren't there long anyways, as long jail terms and death is just part of the game.

Not making eye contact is just a way of life. New Zealand is much betta...

I wonder if there’s a real threat or it’s mostly imagined due to our insecurities and distrust of another culture - and our reaction only encourages them to do it more.
Mind you I don’t want to find out

Some marginalised people do actually feel like they have little control over their own destiny and future (wrongly or rightly) – and resent the control others can exercise over them, like; public servants, teachers, doctors, politicians, police have been predominately white middle class people who live in places like Whenuapai. So I guess it’s a buss for them to be able to intimidate us so easily and exercise some form of control over us.

    Just musing

And by the way – I don’t think you’d know a real nig…. If you fell over one
And skinny ugly ginga males in hoodies intimidate and give me the shits, That’s why I avoid the South Island.
    Fark sakes!
Here comes the PC brigade. So busy trying to pretend we live in a land of fluffy candy floss and puppies to notice the crap that people who just want to live their lives peacefully go through.

The BDOTGNZA would like to point out that the correctly-written term is 'fuxache'.

    FFS - For Fuck's Sake.

FFS. The funny thing between the "k" and the "s" is an apostrophe. The wee phrase means we are taking the name of "Fuck" in vain. But then he probably likes that.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

No thinking required, though I rather take umbrage with your perception that I would have needed to engage brain to come up with that.

It's actually a malady from over useage of Fax machines. It's called Faxache. As in "Use email for faxache!"

And about this thread it actually has nothing to do with the colour of their skin. Back in Scotland it's the pale skinny white ones you have to worry about. Amazing the number of big black gangster brothers that have been fucked up by wee Jimmy, Tosh, Malkie and their chibs 'n' shooters...and all because the black fellas dropped the 'R' from the word Gangster which marked them out as English and therefore fair game for a plunging (stabbing).
In space, no one can smell your fart.
