Basically, if anything arrives in your email box with some horrific warning in it and specifies some dramatic remedial action that must be taken, you should read it immediately using only the delete key.

    Steve
"I am a licenced motorcycle instructor, I agree with dangerousbastard, no point in repeating what he said."
"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

Oh noez! I'm shaking in my little fur-lined booties!

I'll just go and format my servers, donate a dollar to charity and repent to my local preacher.

I mean, for fucks sake they hardly even prosecute people for piracy in America, let alone come to a country that most Americans don't even know exists to hassle ya.

You'll only get nailed if you're actively selling pirated media - and you will get nailed for that.

But just downloading for personal use? Go hard mateys. And if you want to stay below the radar, download via IRC - torrents gets all the publicity, Direct Connect clients is slower but still decent, but you never hear of IRC. Fast too!

Of course, not that I know anything about this sort of activity.

They do sent letters to local isp about local users download stuff.

    Don't ask how i know.

    ----------
but for all xp users, downloading using p2p should use a bit of software called PeerGuardian - > http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

PeerGuardian is already integrated into the better Direct Connect clients, and I believe torrent clients too. (I only download via the net for rare, classic movies).

If you want to do some real downloading [leeching], go to a LAN.

Usually 60+TB on the hub, minimum, and you get a pretty steady 40-50Mb/s.
