Hey sparkey, looking at the photos what is up with the gear change linkage? Has it just been disconnected? The pedal looks like it is been hung over the back of the footpeg?

If you need spare bits (ie engine covers, conrod and engine bolts, gaskets, spare hrc wiring loom, spare front wheel with disks etc etc) pm me.

The gear linkage had been disconnected while it was being transported. Had our contact in Japan start it up during the week.
Reckons it sounds awsome and no engine noise to worry about. so looks like it will be the usual stuff for me to do when it gets here.
Oil/filter/brake fluid etc.

Pics are with the graphic designer as we speak to work on the team paintjob.

It wont be ready for the last round, but will be here with plenty of time to get ready for the Tri series and enduro race.

Only real struggle will be getting my race fitness back up!

WHAT.... You mean you can get a lightened HRC bolt to hold all the hotrod HRC bits on the bike. Fark those Jappas are clever bastards aye.

I wonder do HRC bolts handle falling over as well as normal bolts all we peasants have to use ???

Never heard of lightweight bolts? No, they're not like your purple or red powerbands for your two stroke, or headlight fluids, they actually exist.

Billet rearsets
HRC ECU
HRC Throttle
HRC Radiator
HRC Lightweight fairings (plus an extra 2 sets)
HRC DashHRC Spec Suspension (Internal valving and stiffer springs)
Braided Brake lines
Spare titanium exhaust system
The motor sounds like it has cams etc, but cant say for sure.
Has no shortage of power though!

I bet. I noticed a lot of people get bikes that are easily available here, from race teams in japan. As someone not very in the know of road racing, can I ask why you got it from japan rather than buy a cbr from here and import the HRC stuff?

In my opinion the main reason I'd buy an ex jap racebike would be because they have so many more cool bits available to them over there that we would NEVER see. Then when theyre finished the season they sell them off cheap.

The japanese generally seem to do things properly when it comes to building racebikes, the parts are cheaper for them and like I said they have more access to them.

To buy a bike here is fine, but then trying to find all the good bits, pay for them and then try and put them on is a big mission! Only thing you have to watch though is buying a genuine HRC CBR600 for example(if you mistakenly didnt know the difference) they're nice and cheap, but its not eligible for 600 class here in New Zealand because it's not 'production', it came out already in race trim from the HRC factory instead of in road trim from the boring part of the Honda factory (different frame and engine numbers). Our race classes and regs are different to theirs

That's my 2 cents worth anyway

oh and if you like HRC parts... buy an RS! almost every part is HRC!

and on the lightweight bolts... yes they exist and the best are titanium because for a front brake disc bolt for example theyre only about 2grams each (very very light)

As Tim said, Its much easier to buy a bike already kitted out. And SOOOOOO much cheaper!
These days you could get a fully kitted up 600 (2005-2007) for under 10k.
You cant buy a standard roadbike of the same year for that here.
Plus the shop i work for imports bikes all the time, so was fairly easy to get it added to the container.

Ok, makes sense. I had thought they may get a few japan-only things from honda and other makes that might be too hard to source from NZ. But isn't the race version cbr600 just basically without lights and with a race pipe and race tuned? btw saw something that made me wish I was on my full today: a slightly crash damaged (cracked fairings is all) 2006 zx10 for 7000 or near offer with low k's

The HRC CBR's are basically standard.
Stand exhausts etc. Race fairings, HRC ECU, Steering damper.
Thats about it. Its a good platform to start from for most race teams. As what has been done to my one.

So what, did you just let your dealership know you are looking to import from japan or did you have to learn Japanese and start trawling a Japanese Trademe?
