Manawatu forums... Is that the pisser in the square? There's obviously a lot of crap that gets talked about (especially when the threads are named that)

Well if you listen to the site admin, who told you its causes extra load on the servers running social group forums, its a very buggy system(causing tons of extra queries to the database) which in turn slows down the whole site for rest of members. T

hey control the site, it was there decision to pull it not the mods as you put it. they can honstly do whatever they want with the site, they can change the make everyone see pink, delete complete forums/add new sections as they see fit, and not held accountable to anyone.

This feature is not even in the next release of vb bulletin, so bit pointless getting to attached to it when next upgrade it would disapear anyway. with threaded discussion allowed in normal social groups, instead of having to have own social group forum.

Manawatu Forum is good for KB Community.

Some vaild points. To see what the site can be like with update go to Katriders.com.

If you've got a strong online community (even if a bit vocal) promoting motorcycling within their region as Manawatu is then it's got to be good.

Server space and capacity is an ongoing issue. It's not specific to one user group, get real.

I'd like to see the Manawatu Forum continue. It is good for the Manawatu biker community, it's good for KB.

There has been a bit of teething trouble but if it's producing the goods don't kill it.

Now taking away post points, that's just sad.

    Don't shoot the messenger.

You not reading, what was said, it has BUGS in it, that feature is removed from the future upgrades of the software that runs the whole site, with something else in its place.

If admins wanted to remove it would be removed already, but it will remain until the next upgrade(unless they decided to remove it sooner) when it will remove due to the software update.

Never to shoot you .. but no one else gets post count for stuff which is non biker related ... e.g. rant and rave, LOA, etc ... so nothing is lost ... its just equal

The next version of vB is 3.8, which hasn't been released yet.

SG forums is not part of vB, but a mod written by an individual. It uses an excessive amount of db queries and is still in it's early stages of development, so is buggy.

With 3.8 having threaded discussion in SGs, there's no point having a mod that does the same thing which puts a load on the server, so will go when I upgrade to 3.8. Existing threads will be moved to other forums.

Nice to chat with you Spank Me. I like the site you've done a great job. I bow down to your wisdom. P.S. there are really nice people in Manawatu. When change is promoted positively everyone wins (I hope.)

Half truths and personal attacks really just pee people off don't they. Keep riding.
