    Track day timer

Anyone got any ideas on how to get a good timing system going for a trackday? Ive got one coming up at puke on Monday wanna see how fast I can go.

Before anyone bitches about timing at trackdays - this is a private trackday.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

You can buy combined clock/voltmeter/lap timers at Jaycar Electronics. Means you'll have to push the lap button each lap though, unless you do say 5 laps and average the combined time.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Lap Timer comes standard with '08 ZX10, and GSXR1000K9, but like the other systems that guys have mentioned, not cheap, but both come with heaps of other awesome features!......powerful engines, great brakes......I believe BIGBOSSMAN and others are lovin' their new lap timers!

If its just trackside timing then any decent cellphone has a lap stopwatch.

If you going to use a cellphone that has java this program works pretty good.

Only issues with a cellphone is the screen turning off and needing a keypress to wake it up.

    yea big +1 on these.

the XT timers tell you heaps (times, averages, temps) and you dont need a notebook to record all the times. and there pretty acurate so you get proper times and there easy to use between multiple bikes or cars.

    i love mine. its awesome

Isn't there some infra-red beacon across the track somewhere? I saw some litte beacon thingy with a gel cell on it, and wondered if on-bike timers were used.

I got a hand held stopwatch of Trademe for 30 bucks, which I just electical taped to my left handle bar.....its got a 20 lap split timer so I just hit start when I head out & when I pass my nominated timing mark I can just lift my first finger & hit the "split" button .this allows you to time every lap & reacll all of them.
One thing though, I found it easier to choose a spot where youre going slow as your timing point,as its hard to hit it at the same spot when youre flat out over the start/finish
The Heart is the drum keeping time for everyone....
