Man I had some fucking huge trouble with my ass hole neighbours. I just called noise control a couple of times and he lost the plot. Police came over etc.

I think that you have to make out that you feel alot more threatened than what you are (or you may feel this threatened?)

Anyway, I'd take out a trespassing order and a restraining order.

Still.... a bunch of helmeted unknowns arriving to advise these pieces of shits of the error of their ways (verbally of course) does have its merits at times....
Yes but when they start offering to burn my house down I kind of think well time to let go and move on.

Someone has suggested the RMA and Council so I will go down that track and maybe a letter to the Mayor.

The 75 year old neighbour came to see me today and she looks pretty shattered to be honest. I suggested maybe some helmeted unknowns and she thought that was a cool idea. And I am picking at that age she sure can cook a mean nana cake!

You need a time, date and place to meet for the unknowns... Nana cake on offer, but hard to eat while the unknowns identity is being concealed by the helmet...????

It could always be delivered to a prearranged destination after the fact.

A friend's parents live in Himatangi and have done most of their married life. Nice quiet area - until the neighbour moved out and rented their house to some relatives. They have parties nearly every night, stereo blasting away all day and night, and no action when asked to turn it down. This couple are retired so it's the last thing they need. Noise control won't visit out there, so they rang the police last time and they sent two cars and four officers and since then it's been a lot better.

I really feel for you as I know there is nothing in the world as bad as bad neighbours. We has scum across the road when we lived in Levin and count our lucky stars that we now live in the country with pretty good neighbours. The teenage guy across the road is moving out to go to university next month so the loud stereo, yelling and yahooing and endless stream of cars skidding in and out of their gravel driveway will cease soon (had to laugh last night though - one decided to play rally drivers going into their driveway and couldn't control the slide and hit the bank!). The family next door are renting until the new owners are ready to move in (meant to be last Christmas but sounds like another six months or so) so their teenage girl and her sad taste in music won't be forever! And besides, it's usually pretty quiet during the day and most nights - just the odd blast - and during the night it's nearly always dead quiet. We don't have any trouble with them either -not after giving the young guy across the road a lecture after his last party!

Overhearing someone even joking about burning your house down is beyond a joke. I know it is giving in to them, but even if and when they move on, they still know where you live and I'd be worried.

We are pretty lucky where we live, but if I were ever rich enough to build where and what I wanted, I'd like 10 acres with the house smack-bang in the middle so neighbours were never a problem!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Dont give up MD. Them offering to burn your house down is a load of crap. I have had the same offer before from some not nice people, so I know how it feels. I was paranoid for the next week but nothing happened.

If you really wanna move then best of luck. U dont deserve to feel threatened in your own home. What fucking wankers.

    Stay strong!

Exactly...follow that up with cleaning the pot cupboard out, listening to your favourite classical CD, and any other noisy pursuit...I'm sure you have a few cords of wood that need attacking with a chainsaw!

Just re-read some of the thread, just shows you how useless the law can be these days.Sometimes you think the only way is to fight fire with fire, like next time their having a party have a few gate crashers drop in,nothing like a good brawl to smash a house up.(landlords love them)Tables and chairs thru windows(not nice living in a house without windows)and oops did something catch fire(cant live in a smoke damaged house)all memories from along long time ago

Don't forget to throw in some retching & vomiting sounds. Apparently that statistically is the most hated and unbearable sound in the world

New neighbours have moved in and are driving me to despair. They have been there a week and last Wednesday they were partying until 3am. OK thought I they have just moved in and celebrating. Never had any trouble around here before so its proabably a one off.

Friday night. The language was even too much for me - I thought I was back in Sarf Auckland. The young drunks in the street exclaiming how big their dicks are and what they could do with them was somewhat amusing for the first hour but....... A brawl started and I phoned the police. They turned up with a wagon and dog handler and were abused but left as it had kind of quietened down. They were still going at 4am.

Now last night they were still going at 2am. On the weekend they had visitors who had dogs on the loose. There were 3 and two appeared to be part pitbull but I cant be sure. I went to shoo them away and one turned and barked at me - in my own back yard. I decided it best not to progress any further. My cat meanwhile had headed for the hills.

It is now starting to affect my work as my lack of sleep means I am even more grumpy than usual and snapping at my staff and making mistakes.

I did a search on the property to try and track down the owner but he isnt listed (I am pretty sure he has rented to his friends). Tried to track his registration but I seem to have written it down incorrectly. Checked out the Council web site and cant find any legal solutions. As it is more raised voices and abusive language there is no point in calling noise control.

I live alone and am not keen on starting any crazy feud but am lost as to what I can do? Any of you lot got any suggestions that can help?

No I am not brave enough to go knock on the door as there seems to be a heck of a lot of them and I dont want to start anything that could escalate to a battle from hell
Hi m8 - we had a similar problem a while ago with new tenants who moved in bhind our house and kept us awake with Metallica and others until the early hours and with another house the other side, this time, some form of weird dance stuff with a thud thud thud ... we ended up ringing the Council (Waitakere) on a dozen nights and they sent round a noise officer (security guard) to tell them to turn it down - they did, but it carried on, we wrote to the Council who have powers to get hold of the landlord and tell them and about 2 weeks later they moved out. I went over there twice asking them to turn it down before that and was told by an 18 year old girl to pull my head in ... the police were not interested - hope that helps!
