    GN250 strange problem

I have a 2006 GN250. The thing was a bit hard to start, so I replaced the spark plug & checked the cap, which had huge resistance, amazed it ran really. Since then, from cold it wont start normally, unless I pull the plug cap off and put it back on, it doesn't do it every time The starter motor will just turn the bike over, and it wont start. One night 4ks into my ride home, the ignition died. I stopped pulled the plug off & on, and it got me home. The charging system is good, the ignition lead has no resistance, the plug cap is 1k ohm like its supposed to be.
The ignition coil has a secondary resistance of 12kohm, the early model manual I have says it should be 18-29kohm.
The bike runs great normally, and uses about the same amount of gas as normal.
The man at suzuki suggested the trans/rectifier unit, however the charging voltage is good, and Ive never had a flat battery, and the cell level hasn't dropped much at all. I have checked & cleaned the earth strap.
Amy suggestions, help? I need to get this sorted as its my work transport.

What voltages does it put out at about 2500rpm?

How much gas does it use? About 25-30 km/l?

    14.40 volts @ 2500 rpm.
The exact fuel consumption I've never really calculated, however I normally fill up after 200-220km on a tank & It normally takes 7 or 8 litres.

hey mate its the guy from darfield wth the coil (man, everyone goes on kb). the only thing i could think of that taking the cap on and off would fix is either something to do with the earth through the spark plug. or theres something rong with your plug cap. have you tried a new spark plug?

Yeah, tried all combos of the old plug, new plug, borrowed plug cap etc, etc. Spoke to a mate who said it could be the CDI unit.....

Plug gap is correct. What I'm trying next is a light across the coil LT, and I will just have to try it tomorrow. If the bike doesn't start and the light flashes, is most likely the coil, if the light doesn't flash, its the CDI unit.
