I know what you're saying but...

Call me old fashion, stupid, corney, whatever...I don't like lying, it generally comes back to bite me on the arse, and right now, I need good Karma, not bad.

    Thanks for the advice though

No good. You've got to be with an employer for a year to get parental leave.

    Oh, congrats 007XX. Great news.

As per the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987, you have to have worked for the same employer for an average of at least 10 hours a week (including at least one hour in every week or 40 hours in every month) in a 6 or 12 month period before bubs expected due date.

    But.......

Mr 007XY may be eligable for two weeks leave.....no money thou on the birth of bubs, if he meets the 6 or 12 month criteria, as explained above.

Some really nice employers offer more for dads too....he needs to have a chat with his employers. And or have a wee lookie at his employment agreement.

Temps on campus at AUT are farken awesome, if you want temp work, they have a campus on the shore. Give them a bell they are always looking for temps. AUT aint that bad to work for I promise

Thanks hun...i knew you were more than just a pretty face (Gordie, ya lucky bastich)

My beloved is self employed, so as far his employer is concerned, I'm fairly confident I can sweet talk him into a little submission

but I'll check out the AUT lead...I would have never thought of them tbh.

Actually, y'know, there's probably a fairly significant semi-underground market for, er, services, from pregnant women. I bet one could make a pretty penny that way!

    ...

    What?

Stop looking at me like that, it's capitalism.

Are ya gonna squat in a field??? You do realise that by opting for a home birth you must grow your hair to feral lengths...

Well then your self-employed Mr 007XY could be entitled to a taxpayer funded payment for up to 14 weeks.

Why not just eat the baby? It'd make the next 20 years so much cheaper and quieter.
