    Talking WOOHOOO! And all that.

Whelp, after Eggs Zachary eight weeks (8 WEEKS!!! ) of not riding, I broke the drought this morning.
Got all my gear sorted, put on the bike gear, fittedt the dark-tint visor back on the Shoei, and out to the gargre.

When I fired up the bike, it started first touch of the starter, but sounded like it was running on only three cylinders.
    Oh - that's right: it's a V4!
    And off I go....
Hmmm... the bars are lower'n I remember.
Huh... the suspension's firmer than I thought.
Still sounds like a cakemixer (albeit a growly one).

But.... all in all, it was bit of a non-event; not quite the thrill I anticipated.
At least I didn't crash, or get a ticket for speeding (I mostly kept to the speed limit...)
And I DO feel somehow better for having ridden.

Here's a pic of how I looked setting off this morning (or more accurately, how I might've looked if I was actually someone who does smiling...)
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I don't like it, no sir, I don't like it at all.
But the vifferbabe asked me to wear it, and since she bought the jacket, I felt like I should honour her request. It's good that it's attached to the jacket, and not actually a separate vest, because it's easy to get the jacket on and off, and it doesn't flap around like a flapping-around-thing. However, the narrow shoulder bits in the front do vibrate and create a little turbulence under the helmet over about 105 km/h, so it's lucky I never go that fast.
    ... and that's what I think.

I know how that is. I had the bike of the road for 5 months and it took a week to wipe the smile off my face. (Not that I wanted to). Yes it dose lift the spirits.
I may be slow at getting things but..... no wait I'm just slow.

I had to do it (despite - or perhaps because of - the indifferent weather forecast).
I was starting to become a cager.
    A non-biker.
Just one of the typical D'Auckland commuters.

Seriously. I was developing a crappy, laissez-faire, take-it-or-leave-it, "don't care if I ride the bike" attitude.

    But I'm fixed now.

I should hope so..."Biker Recuperation Mission" sort of endeavours are always messy (albeit a lot of fun)

    Welcome back sir...

Woo! Good to hear you're back on the bike

Might I suggest a dentist though?

*He got a real prudy mouth...........don't he*
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

Well done Ian. Tinted visors are just the best for staring at cage drivers and watching them avoid your gaze, aren't they??

    Grrrrrrr!!! And all that...

I now have BAD withdrawal symptoms, on my second day of not riding.
I was SO looking forward to riding today, but was a bit slow off the mark, and so for the second day, #2Son klumped upstairs just as I was about to stick the bike gear on and head out the door: "Uh...car-pooling today?"

    Gah!

Apart from a few drops of water falling out of the mostly blue sky, it was beeeeeautifully sunny, and I really needed a bike fix to clear my blues.
    And heid.

I said, "Oh. I was hoping to ride today." (And hoping he'd say, "THat's OK, Dad. You go ahead and ride - I'm fine with taking my car! I've got things to do, places to go anyway!")

But no. He didn't let me off the hook. And I'm not quite enough of an arsehole to tell him, "I'm taking my bike! Find your own damned way to work, dammit!"

So I grumbled all the way to work, swore at the other drivers, and tried hard not to resent every minute of the trip.

Hopefully (yeah, right!) the weekend won't be the usual round of housework'n'chores, and I'll get to go out.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
