Yeah it was really well done, well acted and pretty convincing. Must have had a big budget too. We pretty much take for granted this won't happen but it shows how unprepared we are. Glad I don't live in wellington any more...
i didnt see the end, did that kid get his arsed kicked for stealing his old mans car?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
Well acted??
You really think so? I thought the acting was average at best, think I said at one satge ''fuck that acting is shit''....case in point, in the office scene, just after the earthquake had stoped, someone yelled out ''im trapped, theres something on my legs and I cant move'' someone replied '' stay there, dont move''... mmmmm following a script I know but that was funny. The out door scenes were really well done. Wonder if there will be some cheap real estate in Wellington around the sea level area?
Well put together doco I thought. Don't think the nonsensical outbursts were so much bad scripting as an accurate rendition of people spinning out mentally to a really bad situation.
Had to smile about the closing line regarding parliament having been moved to Auckland. Off of a fault line and into a field of dormant volcanoes, and with a roading system that is already disasterous![]()
Yeah that was funny, I thought the same thing
I thought it was really good, very thought provoking. I have been to a disaster zone to assist and its pretty damn messy. The accuracy of the infrastructure issues was well highlighted last night and it makes you realise that you will be without assistance for well over the three days they tell you to prepare for (the further away from the city the worse you will be I think) . It also highlighted the fact that you may well survive the earthquake but you wont survive the disaster if your not ready
I thought it was a really well put together doco in terms of making you think and take heed of some of the messages that it contained.
Everytime it cut to the news presenter though, with his breaking news slots, I did wonder about the poor sods who didn't know the programme was on, changed channel to TV3 just at that stage and then started freaking out that it was true! I wonder how many calls to TV3 or emergency services there were?
Well, I believed it until they got to the supposed Chemist at the Newlands shopping centre. I'm pretty sure there is no Chemist at the shopping centre, and the place they tried to break into is an A/V repair shop.
I also thought the Tsunami happened way too late after the quake. The tsunami wave travels bloody fast and would have hit the land within a couple of minutes... seemed to be more like 10+ in the film.
.. but I get the point (that I am not really prepared)... as I write this from the top of the State tower!

Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
One thing they failed to mention was, how many died.
Why was that?
8.2 Quake? Is that what 'they' beleive the magnitude would be?
I doubt it...how the hell would anyone know that satistic? They couldn't even agree on how high the tidal wave was..5/6/8 mts?? Five times greater than Napier and possibly the biggest ever recorded, yeah go Wellington!
Im not sure 1000's of families will rush and buy the supplies needed going on last night viewing. 1000's of families cant afford that kind of outlay. Its like the Y2K Bug thing of 99'..what a load of crap that was, some people made alot of money from those who bought into it.
Na when the time comes, do what it takes to survive for just over a week and by then, emergency services will be on hand to help those that survived.
I was a little dissapointed in the show.....and things wont change, everyone will get on with it and carry on as normal.
Its like on here...something bad happens to a biker and some start saying ''be carefull out there''...and most just carry on they way they always have.
yup NZ is one big Earth Quake zone... the joys of living on the Pacific Ring of Fire
I believe the quake that hit Npaier was a lot deeper, and off shore...Originally Posted by Maha

In reality thats probably what you would say... you would be suprise in the time of heat or in the moment what goes through your brain... Then look back and think well why did I say "Don't move..." he can't...Originally Posted by Maha

Did you mean you believed it was real?Or that it was believeable?
Who cares if details weren't as reality? I doubt would Mana be wiped out by a tsunami from that epicentre, when the whole of the south coast around to Makara is sheltering Mana from any direct wave force.
I had to laugh at the old biddy...walks into the bathroom of that house up the hill, sees the dead fat guy in the bath, shrugs and drops her bloomers to have a pee on the toilet just across the room.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
