What do you think is an reasonable file size limit* for banner and standard skyscaper ads?
* I was going to say 'in kb' but that only confuses the first sentence!
Nighthawk - 2kb is not reasonable.

256-500kb?
Are we talking animated gif's or flash animations?
Personally I hate the video advertising that comes up on certain sites, especially when you dont ask it to.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
Don't really care. I'm one of the enlightened few on Telstra Broadband.
Unless your main demographic is Xtra clients you could look at 500kb easy.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
Ha! - I was thinking 150kb was generous.
The banners on here average about 24kb.
Anyone know what the NZ Herald max is - without dl-ing the .pdf ?
As long as adblock stops it, I don't care what it is![]()

You may find most of those bigger tower ads are done in Flash which if done correctly can be a lot smaller
me ad blocker... so don't see your ad anyway. And on broadband so don't care...

Ya, i reckon. 500kb is a lot generous. 100kb or less. You want the advert to appear pretty quickly, not take 10 minutes to download. Plus make it change the home page and download some unwanted files to the profile and replace the desktop image with bigboobs.jpg
Enlightened would be using cable. but, you'll get DSL2 in the near future so you can be even more enlightened.Originally Posted by Riffer
FINE. This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
Ad networks normally limit the size to between 15kb to 50kb for banners and skyscraper standard sizes, including:
760x120
728x90
300x250
250x250
160x600
Try to aim at around that filesize.
If you need ad exposure, get in contact with me with your budget and goals, and I might be able to recommend something.
