    Damn! No rear brake?

Yup! got no rear action happenin'.
Was sweetas last saturday and I didn't really notice anything untoward riding home on Sunday... was so buggered when I got home that I wouldn't have noticed ANYthing.
Buuuuuuut its become VERY obvious since then that my rear brake ain't workin'. Like not at all! And when ya don't have a back brake ya realise how much ya use it! Not liking having to use solely the front cos its a bit aggressive.
So I have had to rethink my following distances and back right off so that I don't have to do an hard brake thats gonna turn into a stoppie.
Not that the Buell isn't spectacular at stoppies but I don't wanna do one in motorway traffic.

Anyways its going in for a service next wednesday so I am just livin with it till then (no pleasure riding this wkend tho ) but I am still mystified as to why one moment it works and the next it doesn't?

I tried a bit of pump action and it seemed to get a bit of life but not enuf. I don't have a reservoir (long story) so can't see if I'm outta fluid but I would be extremely surprised if that was the case...

Just curious if anyone else has ever had this happen?

Try hanging something heavy on it overnight. Heavy enough to keep it fully depressed. (I'm assuming you're getting some kind of pressure). Then give it a couple of pumps in the morning and see what its like.

had the rear brake on my RSVR shit out, was a hairline crack in the line, enough to let air in, but not enough to leak any fluid.

When I pump it by hand it feels ok...
But when I'm actually trying to stop the bike there is NOTHING.

Will do as you suggested FJ.

Yeah, you pull that lever thingo (technical term) on the right handlebar, and the left front brake thingie ('nother tech term) on the metal post thingummy squirts some jizzy stuff up the pipes to that doofer (tech) on the back wheeeeeeeel.

WHo hasn't been changing the fluids then ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

    Chickens are good for that.
And you can check their entrails, see whether the BikerGodz are looking favourably upon your Buell, or are going to afflict it with more suddenly non-functioning parts.

Speaking of which - I have a friend in Mrka, who actually works for Harley Davidson. He had a 2008 Ulysses, which he loved until he went on vacation and it left him stranded. He had to hire a truck to take it back home.
Of course, they fixed it under warranty, but his vacation was ferkt.
He traded it in on a Yamaha...

Oh - and he repeated his vacation on that, this time with no problems at all.

That sort of thing can affect your vision, y'know. (Or so 'they' say).
Best to get someone else to do it.

I assume it's a disc brake at the rear?? Have a look with a torch & see if there's any brake pad left??

    Ummm...
Are we still talking about brakes, or has this descended to the gutter, like most other KB threads?

Well I AM still talking about brakes...

DOH! didn't think of doing that. Buuuut the discs and pads are less than a year old... my brake pads last a lot longer than that. Good point and I WILL check it out.
