*CANCELED* Cruise tonight (2/2/5) - nrth akld

I've seen a road that I have no idea what it's like. Heads from Orewa/Waiwera to Helensville, 'bout 35-40ks long.
I really need a ride, so seems like a good idea and should be about an hour or so.

Any one interested in joining up, I'll be at Cyclespot at 7.30ish..

Sorry for the short notice, just an impulse thing.

The road going from under the Waiwera overpass on SH1 turns to metal fairly quickly. It follows the Wainui Stream and goes from Upper Waiwera to Wainui and joins the road from Wainui to Waitoki (this is Tar seal) where it joins Kahikatea Flats rd (which goes from SH1 Dairy Flat Caltex to the Helensville-Kaukapakapa SH16 Rd.
The raod that turns off to the left (going North) at the top of the Silverdale hill is Wainui Rd. It's been a long time since I have been down this raod, but I think it is Tar Seal. It also joins the Road from Wainui to Waitoki.

Have you done the North West Route Via Old North Rd/Peak Rd/Kaukapakapa-Wellsford SH16 before? It's a very much biker riden route.
Wainui Rd (left top of Silverdale hill) good for a few twisties. I have not been down it since they finnish the AK/Owera motorway, so I don't know if it goes over or under that.
Kahikatea Flats Rd is fairly boring (mainly straigths).

    We did this one:

yeah, will do. Don't know when I'm going to do the run now, but when I do, I'll let you and everyone else know..

RIB, thanx for the info/directions.. I'm crap with road names and areas, but I'm sure I'll find the routes! Just have to ride out a bit more..

Paco, I didn't know things were so serious between you and Jim. I'm happy you're open with everything
Seriously, I know what you mean. I just need to find one last stint of motivation, and stick it out at gym for a few months. It is however proving bloody hard... Work shaggs the shit out of me, and I've got nothing left for poor old Jim

Better off using kahikitea flats rd.
Thanks for the SpeedM. Last time I when down there was 1999 (and that was in a ute). Thought I could remember it being seal but did not know what condition it was in know. Maybe one of you more local dudes should take Bugs out and show him the good back roads around there.
