Question How to waste your promotional dollars

How to waste your promotional dollars.

    1. Be a no-name company with no public profile.

    2. Buy the jersey naming rights for the NZ Cricket team.

    3. Don't spend any money on PR so that people know who on earth you are.

Who or what the fuck is DEC?

If they are that useless at buying profile, an enterprising sportsbike rider could hit them up for naming rights... (Providing they could find DEC to hit them up)

I guess they were picking the New Zealand team to make history as the first to lose to Bangladesh in a series. Heaps of publicity there.

As for an overseas company sponsoring a New Zealand team, I think we will see more of this in the future. Especially out of Dubai, as was the case with Emirates and Team New Zealand.

I remember the first time I saw the Springboks wearing Canterbury of New Zealand jerseys, was weird especially as the All Black were in Adidas. South Africans probably saw the 3 Cs and wondered who it was and even that branding had kiwis in it.

So is DEC an overseas company then? What do they sell that I may want to procure?

They only work if you get a NOV and a JAN to go with them.

DEC used to be the Digital Equipment Corporation. But they got bought by Compaq, who were then bought by HP.

I've no idea who this new crowd is.

Part of the mystery is solved. I still don't get how your average cricket viewer will feel any sense of interest in or attraction to some Dubai-based real estate developing company, irrespective of whichever country they live in.

Perhaps they are the Arab version of BlueChip -- that famous jersey sponsor of the Bay of Plenty Steamers last NPC season...

I can only surmise it's some internal Dubai-ese dick-measuring contest with Emirates Airways' sponsorship of "Team New Zealand" and their overgrown dingy.

Now the real sensible option would be for a company to sponsor the shit team and put the oppositions name (or as close as possible for legal bs) on the jerseys.

    Did we win btw?

Jacob Oram did. Singlehandedly. The rest of the Krap Kaps were egregious.

Oh damn I missed it! A bunch of cricket players being egregious, that would really be something.

    Er, what does "egregious" mean?

It's Latin for "edging to first slip".
