All about gloves

Fingers on motorcycle gloves should be long, it's important that theres a load of room at the fingertips because during longer rides the fingers will naturally slide deeper, if the fingertips touch the end of your gloves or theres a tight spot then it can become a bit painful over time (extremely long rides).

This is what my research thus far has confirmed.

Size is irrelevant. Black is the only colour of gloves. I have short fingers.

Sounds just like me!
I have relatively large (for a female) palms and short fingers..can never get gloves that fit properly. I have a pair of Quasi gloves that are okay ish...not perfect, tho.
As for needing the fingers too long to allow for your fingers to slide deeper, wot a crock! All that does is cut off your circulation!

Gloves for women are very hard to get bang on, the reason is the range of hand sizes seems extensive, then you get the long finger nail scenario as well, women in my experience are way way more fussy than blokes when it comes to bike gear particulary gloves.
My advise is to try them on and go from there, we of course do gloves and can probably help you but you really need to come and try them out, or local shops.
As (I think) vifferman said the variance with sizes between makers is significant.

If you are in pukekohe, then go and see Scott at MR Motorcycles, they are an Alpinestars stockist amongst other good brands - they quite likely won't have what you need in stock but would be happy to get some in for you to try. Alpinestars have a proper womens range called Stella.

I have a pair of oxford bone drys that I got from chch that didn't break the bank...the shop isn't much help but the brand myt be if ya lookin 4 winter gloves as i have pretty small hands with short fingers

Does that mean, "black is the only colour for me", or that it's the only colour you've found?
I've got black'n'grey gloves, black'n'blue gloves, black/silver/white/yellow gloves, but (as with my jackets) I'm sticking with black-ish gloves from now on. Coloured gear shows the road spooge too much.

I wish I could say its the only colour I have found..but nah.. black is the only colour for me.. I spend enough time cleaning the bike and the chrome without having to start on the gloves everytime I go out.

If they weren't waterproof gloves, it'd be easy enough to have the gloves turned inside-out and the fingers shortened.
But on the other hand (or both hands...), you shouldn't have to do that.

I currently am using mens xs gloves as they were the best fitting gloves I could find at the time. They are however a good 2cm longer than my fingers. I actually am a bit of a sewer and I might try shortening them, I am sure I have a set of leather needles somewhere in the sewing room. Good idea

Yummy, sounds like a plan, dont think to much about it lol, I have a few pairs of Gloves in XS which are going for a steal as they are the last of that style (new ones coming soon sps knox gloves fucking awesome) you can have a pair of them for $40, re pants, got heaps here as well.
Dont mind a Layby or whatever works for you, fairly open to active KBrs deal needs

My husband would disagree - he reckons I am the Imelda Marcos of gloves! I have about seven pair and I love the Spidi ones best. Yes, they are expensive but they are soooo lovely to wear. I have small hands and short fingers and they make some lovely gloves that fit me really well.

Even though I don't need any more, I always check out the selection in bike shops and often find another pair I would love - only to be told I don't need them!

So when I first brought the bike the only gloves I could find that I liked and fitted ok were some xs mens gloves. I like them still but lately it has really started to bug me that the fingers are a little too long and I worry they will catch on the clutch or something stupid.
There doesn't seem to be a huge range about and buying over the internet is hard as I dont know my hand size?

So what's everyone else wearing. what are the sizes? what shops stock them etc.

Hay blossom, Odd question but do you have small fingers as i maybe able to suggest a brand that are more "chick" like and smaller fitting

In summer i change to wearing my shooter gloves, kavlier lined leather and very good fitting.
I know that there are good selections of strong non motorcycle glove out there.

Answer yes, its different hitting the tarmac hands first at 100 kmph than standard working kinda duties. Reinforced stitching ,padding and armour are required.

... and decent wrist fastening to stop the glove (or your hand) coming off.

seems to work ok when reppaling, sliding down rocky hills and jumping out of moving vechs. and smashed glass.

Yes alot of these gloves dont have motorcycle on them but I bet they would do a fine job.
Sorry Quasievil The U.S make a dam fine glove.... or overseas Never shoot them down till you look at them.
Alot of these gloves have very good wrist straps.

I have small hands and small fingers and find there is often a good 1.5cm of glove left when i try them on. The best gloves i have are Schoeller ladies Keprotec by Revit. While they don't have armour they are made up of different levels of leather and are absolutely devine to wear. The fingers are a good size and there while there is room for my long finger nails it isn't huge.
