what gives one party the right to impose its values on the population?
some of you know where i stand, but it seems to me most kiwi's vote based on:

how their parents vote

with their wallet

by fear of change

by how everyone else votes

by what they think should be forced on all of us.

for fucks sake, someone please think when your voting and see the big picture and open your mind a bit, no matter which way you vote, we do not need the govt on our backs to keep this country going!

even if all voters voted in full knowledge and acceptance of the above and avoided the pitfalls you've suggested IT WOULD STILL BE POLITICIANS THAT GOT ELECTED .......

Governments steal your money and use it to promote themselves and their own ideas to keep themselve in power and you let them do it.

And that's, unfortunately, applicable to groups from the far left to the far right.

That's a remarkably astute thing to say, Mr Carver.
Indeed we do not - the Gummint has waaaaayyy too many bureaucrats and hangers-on, and has passed way too many stupid pieces of legislation (as has local gummint). What we need is fewer bureaucrats, and fewer rules'n'regulations, especially of the social programming/manipulation type.

I feel as if I SHOULD vote - ya know to 'have my say' and all...BUT I don't want to give a vote to a party I have no faith in or respect for...and that's pretty much all of them.
My aim is to figure out who the lesser of all the evils is in time to vote!

In New Zealand, can you cast a blank vote? Kind of saying that you want to vote but there is nothing worth voting for? This is a bit more powerful than not voting altogether...

Hell, at least you guys vote. More people there showed up to vote than stayed home over here in the US.

You guys also also legitimately have more than two parties.
