    I fell off

    hello all,
Today on my (push)bike ride, after hitting the ditch, i fell off. At about 50-55 kph.
Gravel on the side of the road caused my movement around the corner to be straightened...severly. I squeezd the brakes, shortly after i hit the ditch. The bike stopped, i didn't (damn physics.) My shoulder hit the bank first, followed closely by my head and then my elbows, knees ect.
I was taken to a medical center, by my friends Mum, and eventually to A&E for an xray...

    Injuries include:
soft tissue damage of left shoulder, upper arm
lacerations of face, knees, arms, legs ect
bruises on knees and elbows, possibly in bones of shoulder.

The xray didn't show any breaks, but MRS doctor said the pain was from soft tissue damage, and possibly bruising of bones in shoulder.

I am counting myself lucky that i didn't have any broken bones, and that my "boo-boo's" will heal soon enough.

I cant wait until I can go out again to show that corner whos boss

Lacerations. You should have been wearing full leathers...

    Get well soon!

Oh well, that's your bin out of the way.

No go and get your bike - you're now precrashed...

    Get well soon.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

mum and dad took the opportunity to say
    AND YOU WANT A MOTORBIKE?!?!?!????
THe doctor also put his two cents in.
It gets quite annoying, having to look like its affecting your decision, and then casting it aside like a used condom.

    "precrashed", i like it

should be back with avengeance next week... hopefully

"You should have been wearing full leathers..." - tried that, got too hot...(P/T)

[EDIT] The most annoying part is that i hurt my bike too, didn't look at it because i was put into a car to MR doctor, but apparently i buckled both wheels, bent handlebars, and im very sure i bent the forks, and frame aswell, it was one of those crappy 10speed road bikes.
I had spent quite a few hours of the last week or so doing things to it..fixing puncture(s), brakes, new front tyre, wheel bearings ect.

    ...

    Yeah, full leathers next time!!

Sorry to hear about your bin.

I've gotta say I feel safer on my motorbike riding down SH22 than I do on my mountainbike doing 50km/h (downhill, on the road ).

I was doing 70km/h down Te Mata peak once on my mountian bike, mate behind me said I started to get the speed wobbles (had off-road tyres on) - sure glad I didn't have an off there. Would have been messy!

Yep for sure. Pushbikes are dangerous. Stay well away from them I say.

I have been riding down a big hill from time to time, the goat track [ western] springs to mind, and been overtaken by a push bike! I'm doing [ erm..] just over 50km/h.

I see your error. 'Push" bike. And you were not pushing it!
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
