    Getting a 250

Hey people. Long time since I've been here.

Used to own an RGV250. Am thinking of getting another 250 (4 banger) to commute to work and have a bit of fun on. Am after something that can handle well and has decent passing power etc. I know I aint gonna get much like a 2smoke in terms of power but at least it won't cost me heaps in gas and oil

Was thinking along the lines of a cbr250 or zxr250. What sort of kms do these things last too as there a quite a few on TM but many have high kms. Any suggestions in terms of what to look for. Don't have a huge budget to spend really.

    Cheers

CBR's most likely fine over 50,000k's. The one I raced here in Aussie had over 50,000k's and hadn't been looked after, had some gearbox issues. Just make sure you take it for a good ride. They do go in excess of 100,000k's.

I wouldn't trust the ZXR's over 50,000k's though. But if you take it for a ride, and it's got no issues, and isn't leaking oil, and there's no rattling coming from the engine, it's probably OK.

I have a CBR250RR that I would sell for $5g. 35,000k's, and the best tyres that money can buy on it. Haven't ridden it since last year, because it's in Auckland and I'm in Australia. Garaged and covered. The engine and gearbox are tight as.

1992 No worries. It's a great bike, and I love riding them, was thinking of upgrading to the VFR400. but I'm happy to keep it and use it as a road/race bike when I'm in NZ.
