    Like what?
    New for NZ in 09

    CB1000R - fun bikes
    Hornet 600 - fun bikes
DN thingy (agree with Big Dave here - there will be more)

Whats any of the big makers got???? nothing really new. Suzukis are all rehashes ditto Yahama (cool new crank on the R1), Kawasaki......., Harley (Sport Sportster).

V4 fans - man they have hang-ups there is always a VMax.

Actually I am surprised the V4 has not made a big comeback - probably production costs compared to the inline that kill it.

Other than a few very low volume makers that are hellishly expensive Buell is one of the few prepared to experiment from the norm.

Then there is Triumph of course - some innovation and difference there.

Just about everything is that good now that there is little point in brand loyality - buy what you like and what gives you the most FUN.

(though the SS has the most amazingly comfy seat and sounds soooo cool ).

I love the Uly and wouldn't ever swap it for another bike.... You may find your wife will end up pinching your Uly

    Thanks Welly MC...
Thanks for letting me keep my nads! The XB12ss was a secret ploy to sell you an acc muffler!

We'll have your Uly back to you as soon as we sort it...thanks for your patience.

I like V4s because I don't like the buzziness of the IL4s, and the V4 has some of the character of a V-twin, but is smoother. (I do miss the v-twin though, and may end up replacing the VFR with another one, or maybe a triple).
It's a bummer that the Honda V4s used to be the sportiest of the Hondas, during the 80s, and somehow morphed into a sport-tourer. I think if the RC45 hadn't been nobbled in WSB by the rules being bent to favour Ducati, things might've been different. But, as you say, a V4's probably dearer to produce, and it certainly can be more expensive to service.
It's also a bummer that there's been no trickle-down effect from MotoGP, but I guess that's to be expected, given the bikes have to be entirely non-production based.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    I'd have to say I agree 100%

Even Guzzi could run a sweet inline V4

Thats really good to hear. You'll have to organise a group ride to collect your bike when its ready. I wouldn't mind a trip to Wellington in the near future.

Go for it...you won't regret it. I think you will find if you are going to do some travelling that the Uly will suit you both...one each.
I find my bike less tiring than the SS, I have to hold on tighter in the PN winds I personally think my bike is much better to `handle'...corner etc....though it is nice being able to reach the ground

Oh dear, another sad little post from the man who thinks sarcasm is wit.

My wife has a 2004 XB12S which she bought 2 1/2 years ago with 7000km and it's now done 17,000km. Never missed a beat, runs like a champ. The only "issue" we've had happened a few years ago when it picked up a stone that partially tore the drivebelt, but it was straightforward to replace (and it didn't actually snap).

My wife was a little concerned about the seat height when she got the bike too (she suffers from duck's disease), so we got a factory accessory low seat for it. It was cheap (at least i thought so!) at about $220 from memory. She doesn't use it any more, because the standard seat has more padding and is more comfortable for the distances we often cover. She's gotten used to the extra height now, and it isn't an issue any more.

    Huh.
Must be a good clutch then. Many hydraulic clutches (like the VFR, and especially some Ducatis) have very heavy hydraulic clutches. If you rode my bike, you'd soon have a very strong left hand. Dunno 'bout the homosexual wrist though

AJ's aint bad, but funnily enough it's only slightly lighter than my original cable version.

You should feel the hydraulic clutch on the neighbour's Beta, ridiculously light.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
