    Season finale for Tony.OK

What a great end to the series..............

Rock up to the track at 7:30 and get prepared for my goals for this round.

Goal 1 : Beat Eddie (GIXser) We were tied for 6th in the Series

    Goal 2 : Get into the 1:11's

Goal 3 : Finish my 1st Race series inside the top 5

    Here's how it panned out...................

SBK Qualifying : Thanking the weather gods for a dry track I went out looking for a nice clean lap to link together all the corners for a good grid placing. Went well with a new PB of 1:12.336 which landed me in 6th, second row, one posi up on the last rnd.

Race 1 : Was feeling good but the last rnd drama was still lurking in the back of my mind. Lights go out and I bog it slightly off the line, got past by a few but got passed most of them fairly quickly, caught up with Jay and Adam Chambers and was getting held up slightly, Jay got past Adam then it was my turn and managed to hold him off under brakes going into Higgins, then I set off after Jay, was gaining slightly when I came into the hairpin to see Craig Shirriffs pushing his bike off the track ( another posi up for me yay....Sorry Craig, gotta take em when ya can, glad you were ok ), tried my best to catch Jay but he just crept away leaving on my own for the rest of the race. Finished were I started in 6th, very happy.
Was absolutely stoked to find I'd smashed my new PB by yet another second with an 11.344......................GOAL 2 ACHIEVED
And also beat Eddie by 2 places to get closer to Goal 1.

Race 2 : What an absolute shit start.............. Got caught napping and was swallowed up by god knows how many bikes, saw Eddie shoot past, then Frenchy...........SHIT!!!!!!
Got a few coming out of turn 1 then sat behind Frenchy until exiting the hairpin, did the ole crossover and got 'im down the middle straight, next it was off after Eddie on the LG bike, by lap 2 the job was done and I was on my own for the rest of the race apart from lapping some of the backmarkers ( which was a good experience in itself ). Started making some dumb errors trying too hard to catch up with Johnny B and my times show it too. Crossed the line for 6th again......excellent.
So I knew I had pipped Eddie and ACHIEVED GOAL 1

What a season, at age 36 I've now done my 1st ever series, scared at the start by entering straight into F1 instead of Clubmans....................AND GUESS WHAT....................I FINISHED 5TH FOR THE SERIES......GOAL 3 ACHIEVED

Sorry to blab on but I'm f*#king excited about the whole thing.

I must say thanks to my very lovely wife for supporting me and learning to be my pitcrew, love ya hun
And a special thanks to all in the pitshed for the series, you've all made it stress free and a shitload of fun ( Frenchy, Nicki, Paul and Stevey....oh and you too Drew ya crazy shit)
Big thumbsup to all the VMCC crew and helpers for organising such a well run series.......top stuff guys n gals.
A wee special mention for Eddie and Frenchy too, thanks for giving me a target dudes, ya helped pull me along and push myself.

Ok ok I'm done............bring on whatever comes over the horizon

The best part of you beating Eddie was watching him try to crawl over all your tyre rubber outside the shed while carrying the beer he owed you for loooosing lol . That was awesome.

Well done Tony and your crew Carol.
Looking foreward to watching next years VMCC progress.

    Cheers Paul & Dianne.

Awesome results Tony ! I can still remember your nervous smile in your first race at PMCC.

Is this why Eddy's looking for a new bike ?!

Well done Tony.. you certainly deserved that win dude.. you rode superbly in my eyes. going from a 12 to a low 11 in one meeting is definately impressive.

best we battle it out at Paeroa again aye....(hmmmm double or nothing maybe)

Your starts are clearly rubbish 'cos I was 24th or something on the grid and clearly remember you blasting past on the middle straight...but 1:11's!! Damn that's awesome! Well done! You should buy a top-bike after this year's Nat's and see what you can do.

Well done Tony. You are riding really well.
Tis a Yamahahahaha G. Just thrash it like you stole it. Gixxer 4 ever
It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever
