You sure about that? I was under the impression that Germany didn't go to MMP until after the war.
Robert Mugabe was voted in & then changed the rules to stay in power, even when voted out he just said "fuck it I'm staying" & is still there........ even with ruining the country & 2,000,000+% inflation. We don't have it too bad here![]()
What's worse is that McCain is likely to cark it in office and put an even bigger idiot in charge.....that really scares me. I think the Americans have a much, much harder choice when they head to the polling booths this election than we do, and the choice we are faced with isn't exactly awe inspiring.

The impression I got when I was in the states a couple of months ago was as stated, neither are rocket scientists.
If McCain dies in office then Palin becomes the leader of the free world, well for 3 weeks of a month anyway
Thats better than they have now.george is out either way
Well certainly can't argue that almost anyone would be better than Dubya....McCain was probably the way I would have lent until he hooked up with Palin, from what I've read she's even less experienced than Obama and just as dangerous, though that's all conjecture and I'll freely admit I haven't been following it that closely.
Palin may not be as bad as some sections of the media seem to be making out, but it certainly has put a big question mark in the minds of many voters over there along with myself.
She's a lot more pleasing to the eye than our dictator, I'll give her that though![]()

lmao...yep, though as many pundits have pointed out, McCain at his age and with his health issues in highly likely to either cark it or fall ill and be unable to fulfill his presidential obligations (assuming of course that he wins) then the deputy has to step up to the plate......

So they end up with a woman running the show.... Helen & Jenny have been keeping us poor for how long??
Another way of looking @ it is you have a choice of a black man or a white woman for the White House. As they are about as inexperienced as each other , the choices are interesting to say the least...... Either way it is uncharted territory for the seppo's.
Previous experience would tend to show that the Female would be the lesser of two evils
I tend to agree, and if push came to shove and I was actually voting in the US election I think I'd probably still vote for McCain/Palin. i don't have a problem at all with having an African-American president, in fact like a female president I believe it's inevitable. I just do not believe that Obama is the right person for the job. Certainly makes it interesting from our standpoint.
I'm expecting to head over to the US late this year/early next again, so it will be interesting to catch up with friends and business associates and get their take on whatever has eventuated.

Actually my experience has been quite the opposite, back when Bush was elected I couldn't believe how many people were talking about how the election was rigged/illegal (insert Michael Moore script here) and the problems that he would cause - though the majority of these people were ones I deal with on the West Coast, as you move further to the east (and closer to DC) it did become more as you describe. It probably changes within the circles you move in too I guess, the majority of these folks were motorcycle industry or racing people FWIW.

BTW, in the US they don't vote for their President. Their votes go to electoral colleges who select the President.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
