I think that there is a leathers specialist in a mall in K'road somewhere that does womens leathers and modifications.

Yup i got them from motorad in Wellington, I have seen them on Trade me aswell. I think it is the euro sizing that makes them small!

Yep, that's them! Very comfortable although my husband found them too high in the waist when he wore a back protector. At least I know he won't pinch them then, like he did with my last pair!

Poor fitting bike gear is not just a chick thing. I tried on some Alpinestars leather pants last week and I swear they were made to fit a potato with toothpicks poking out the bottom.

I ended up buying some mens' pants from a shop in Hamilton for about $190 and they are really comfortable - albeit a bit high in the waist for a short-waisted person! Unfortunately I've just checked and they have NO BLOODY BRAND NAME in them anywhere! They have removable liners and zip/velcro closing on the legs. Zipped pockets with velcro closing too. Roomy in the hips but not too big elsewhere, and mine are the short leg ones. (Well, the label says SHT LG - draw your own conclusions!)
Hey they sound really good, even though they don't have a brand etc, do you know what shop in hamilton you got them from as I can always have look when I'm in there on day.

It's so disconcerting, I had the same problem as a 12/14 (more 14 at the moment). Nothing I tried would get over my thighs, but ended up gaping like anything at the waist. The pants I got were revit, and they fit great on the thighs and butt, but are baggy at the front and HUGE around my waist, like they would still fit if I were heavily pregnant sort of huge!

And despite my probably averageish kiwi size I had to order in the largest pair they make..... MUST be based on those skinny euro types. So unfortunately no help unless your thighs are very narrow compared to the rest of you! Sounds like you have some good options though.

Phew I needed to vent about that! I did find another pair that fitted quite well (though looser all over) at TSS Red Baron, they were Joe Rocket, and had a zip almost all the way up the leg. Didn't go for those though because having the top of the zip poking into the widest part of my thigh just seemed to be asking for trouble were I to come off, and that's what the gear's for...

I would say, and I am sure my husband agrees, in proportion so I don't have one small area and one big area. I have tried guys pants on too but my jacket doesn't have a zip at the back to attach to pants and they gape something chronic at the back of the waist - put it this way, I wouldn't want anyone following behind me!

I am hoping someone out there can help me as the other thing is I don't want to spend a fortune.

I am currently wearing snowboarding pants but even they don't keep me dry and they don't exactly have protection in them either.

    HELP!!

    Thanks

It was Boyd Motorcycles on Te Rapa Road. It's on the opposite side of the road of the BMW dealer and I think there may be another bike shop just a few doors down. There is a sort of alleyway that runs along in front of the shop, parallel to the road. I can't find the card of the young woman who served me but she was really friendly and not pushy at all. I'd be happy to buy bike stuff off her again.

I had the same issue, women's jacket and mens pants - but Motomail has zip converters which means my pants and jacket now fit together.

    That's Kerrie - see below.

I have similar problems (if it fits in the waist it's too tight around the hips etc) so I buy a size that fits around the legs & hips then take it to Kerrie at Motorcycle Safety Wear in K road for adjustment.

Kerrie does make custom leather gear but it's a bit out of my price range at the moment, so I buy textile stuff and get her to custom-size it.

I would like to emphasise: Only get your bike gear altered by someone who is a specialist in bike gear.

Because Kerrie works in leather she's excellent with repositioning zips, stitching through heaps of layers of heavy fabric, etc. Most importantly she double-stitches all seams, uses bike-suitable materials, and positions all zips, domes, velcro etc in places where it's not going to come apart or injure you in an accident. A 'normal' clothing repair place will not have the knowledge to do this.

I tried on quite a few pairs before I found something that fitted.

I've got mens Mobig Munich - they come in short and long leg. These are the ones http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-193449456.htm

They have a higer piece at the back so don't ride down. I've got rather wide hips so I usually have the HUGE gape at the back when trying on pants, but these fit me really well and have elastic in the waist (see the trademe listing pics) and adjustable velco waist strap at the front.

Darbi Accessories are the wholesaler for Mobig.

Can only suggest you just keep trying on both mens and womens stuff. They are all different cut/shape so you will eventually find something that fits. Many now have elastic in the waist, and adjustable waist straps/belt.
