Wgtn: Where can I find a 23w bulb?

I'm having trouble with the indicators on my RGV250 - one side will not flash (stays on) and the other works fine. I have traced the problem to incorrect wattage bulb (one of the bulbs in the rear is 12v 23w, rest are 12v 10w). I figured getting another 10w bulb would fix it as surely they all have to be the same for it to work.

Turns out the 23w bulb is the correct one, as the lights only flash on the side that has the 23w bulb at the back.

The only problem is, no one seems to stock these bulbs!

I have tried Repco, supercheap & motorad so far with no luck.

So can anyone tell me where I can find a 12v 23w indicator bulb? (needs to be a small bulb - found heaps of large ones).

If not, is there any other way around this? (it doesn't seem to make sense that the front indicators would be 10w and the rear 23w as I am under the impression that flasher units only drive one particular wattage...?)

Any help would be appreciated!

Try a truck stealership, a lot of american trucks run 24v startup & 12v run.

Most auto sparkys should have them... or try a motorbike shop... there are a few of them...

I've used 21w bulbs in a pinch in similar applications, can't guarantee it will work but worth a crack if you have some of those.

i would think that repco or supercheap would be the place...have a good look at one of your good bulbs and compare with the replacement.You might find a 25 w replacement...might have to replace both rears

Yeah - as per my post, I think a few watts either way isn't an issue for most systems but a big difference like your 10w to 23w will not work. there's probably some computerised systems or something that may not like it though...not really up on that new fangled stuff.... lol

The other thing to do if all else fails and you want to save time later on is to get a non-load-sensitive indicator flasher. They work on a little timer IC and actually measure the time in-between flashes instead of charging up little capacitors based on load until they trigger a transistor like the traditional ones. You can plug in 10W, 23W, or even a 1W LED setup and it will still flash perfectly.

go to a BMW dealer,the F650 machines have the same small bulbs in the indicators.

go to a bike shop. i found out the hard way that allot of bikes have brand specific bulbs in them that are expensive and only available genuine

Change your flasher unit to an electronic one - it will never bother you again.

Ok. Who sells them? Whats the brand? Any mods necessary to fit it?

I found a 23w bulb, didn't fix the problem so I'll see if a replacement flasher does it.
