Well like Rose, could be interested in a ride and in the area, but dont own one and wouldnt want to. Very few ever wave when u'r passing. Is it the bike or the attitude they carry?

Probably the attitude thing cause back in the states the only peaple who would wave back to me were the Harleys and other cruisers. Was the crotch rockets that wouldn't wave. I might go to this just to look at the bikes and talk to a few peaple but I prbably wont be on my bike. I think you can show up on your bike and pay the donation thing and you'll be part of the crowed but most of the other stuff is most likely just gonna be for the H.O.G.s.

I went to Akaroa last year, It was the best fireworks show I had ever seen, there was a few tossers there like the guy in his riding gear who had got a plane from wellytown to Chch and got a rental car to go to the rally, He was smarter then all the other north Islanders as the ferrys stopped for a few days and all the roads got washed out around wellytown. Storm went thru early sunday morning and I never seen so many tents dumped in a rubbish skip before. organization was tops but nothing for sale like all the HOG goddies. There was a lot of people in real clean leathers like they only get used once a year but there was a lot of real good buggers like the Wellytown guys. I was always a trail and sport bike fan ,hated harleys but bought a centenary model as an investment and to piss my mate off. Wasnt going to ride it much but put 17,000km on it in 15months . The more i ride it the more wanna get back on it, but I got to have a sport bike for the adrenilan Buz..Why do they sell so many Harleys, because there good, ask Scummy. Cheers Toddy

HondaAV2, enjoyed your comments.. I was one of them that thru my tent away in Akaroa, was a great week away, possibly clean leathers because of the rain that was struck on the journey. To the others if you don't bag us Harley guys so, much and take some notice you'll see us wave or helmet nod while we're on the road. The number of us that don't wave is few and far between these days. When I got my first H-D in 95 I was reminded to respect all riders on 2 wheels, cause if your in the crap, it's going to be a metric that will help you.. you guys still have the numbers on us chrome cruisers. We all face the same problems on the road, its just the way we choose to tackle them is different...

Might not have been that wet, but one wet lawyer from down this way rode to the rally, parked at the pub and took a cab to the show as it was raining and he might have got wet. One tough Harley dude NOT

ps, Those were his words as given to the office girls as to why he did not ride to the show venue.

would second this... as I said on another thread, I don't wave to anyone (not even my wife as I leave to ride to work) only because I want to keep both hands on the bar. I do give a 'tip of the helmet'.

Another rider is another rider, not my job to judge their ride. (And would it not be booooring if we all road the same make whatever it is...)

On a personal note, I remember riding my RV90 around Whangaparoa, yea many years ago, and a Norton Commando rider stopping to chat "to another rider". That's the spirit I think we all can share.
