    I deserved to be banned

Last week I posted to the site a rather childish expose regarding my mythical wish to find out what it is like to take the big-fall at the MotoTT track day. At the time the post was directed as a piss-take/eye-poke at the ever parsimonious Katman.

Despite the fact I quickly followed the original post with a disclaimer stating it was just a piss-take, the organisers of the track-day took it; and in retrospect quite properly, seriously. This resulted in me being invited to not turn up.

Frankly, the implications of the post never really occurred to me till I got a private roasting from Frosty; hence the quick retraction.

The undeniable fact is, it was a stupid post to have made and one which painted me as a careless fool. However, as those who know me will attest, I am rarely careless and a fool only on occasion. That first post was one such occasion.

It is noteworthy that most of my other posts to the KB site reflect my real personality, one which is extremely, if not even overly, cautious. The post regarding my withdrawal from the Thursday night ride being a good example.

The real purpose of me having Frosty act as my trainer for the day is so that I may add yet another level of understanding in bike handling. All I really want to be is the best rider I can be.

On most days that I ride my bad-attitude horse I end up getting thrown at least once or twice. And on most occasions that's at less than 20KpH; and it hurts. The last thing I actually want to do is get thrown off my bike at any speed.

At least when I get thrown off my nag-horse I'm the only one to get scratched. The very idea of putting a scratch on my lovely bike just fills me with horror.

Lastly, may I say, the folk at MotoTT reacted as they aught, in the circumstances. However, I appealed by email, laying out my case.

It is my experience, when dealing with people, that once they have taken a position, moving them away from it is about as likely as moving New Zealand three inches closer to Argentina.

Yet these folk have not dug in their heels. They have accepted that I acted like a fool, that the post did not reflect my real intentions for the track-day, and have kindly agreed to retract my ban.

And their ability to do so has gained my absolute respect.

    Thank you.

bit of experience never hurts aye?

Don't worry, I'm sure in time, having seen a lot of things, you'll respond the same when someone posts a thread like you did

Quite so. I hope you're going to be there on the day, giving me the benefit of your experience.....and making sure Frosty doesn't scratch your bike. :-))

Albeit with some trepidation, I am sooooo looking forward to the day.

My lady-love who has the farm upon which my witch-nag-horse lives, has a son whom, upon being asked by me why he didn't ride the horses stated, 'I never ride anything which has its own brain!'

Can't fault the kid for logic. At least my bike has reasonable predictiveness to it, whereas the only prediction I know to be true with the horse is; I get tossed, she runs for the farm gate. I get the long walk home.

If it's any consolation, I saw it, took it for the nicely written piss take it was, and moved on.

The next sentence is guaranteed to take some heat off you.

I think someone, somewhere, over reacted to a post on the Internet. Not the the first time, not the last.

So they formed an opinion and took action on the weight of one post on an internet forum? I suppose they also believe Elvis still lives and the CIA flew planes into the twin towers. I don't think you deserved to be banned. I think some folk need to get over themselves.

    Good on ya mate
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

I had to go look it up. God damn, dude, that's seriously bizarre. I'm sure someone is willing to break a few ribs for you without damaging a motorcycle in the process.

    LOL.

I was always told that our mouths are just big enough to fit our foot in. Humility goes a long way towards getting rid of that choking, foot in mouth feeling...

    "It's just the internet"?

Jim, I would have expected better from you.

MotoTT have regular customers to keep happy (every trackday has a waiting list and inevitable disappointments, remember) and put a lot of work into retaining the esteem of Star and Swann so that those regular customers can be insured to ride at their trackdays.

The last thing they need is loopy cunts who may or may not have meant what they said in public about jumping off their bikes in the middle of the racetrack turning up.

It may be an overreaction from your perspective, but that's easy to say when you're not having to consider the risk of ignoring the threat and then having that be the wrong call.

MotoTT are good bastards, though, so I'm not surprised that they've relented now that dpex has seen the error of his ways.

Look forward to seeing you out there on Friday, dpex!

huh? I thought most people believed one gremlin was enough in the world? There's more than one? Reasonably certain frosty won't scratch me bike... but I won't be there (someone has to keep companies running )

dpex, from a pm from frosty, perhaps you misunderstood. I don't know how long you have been riding, but I assume its not that long (from what I have drawn from your posts).

In time, you will no doubt see varying incidents of varying severity that may give you a better idea of why some don't take crashing very lightly (myself, I have known several who are now dead, but thats OT, lets just say the number is larger than the number of years I have been riding).

WTF? You've told me to harden up and not take it so seriously in the past yourself.

Fundamental human nature is to belittle, demean, and humiliate. I don't see it changing and such behaviour seems to be encouraged on teh "Internet". No point fighting it. Most people suck. Mostly.

I don't see how MotoTT can claim the moral high ground when they insist on pimping unstructured track days as "training".

Nope. I've told you that I put it wrong when I wrote something overly hastily. I never implied that it didn't matter that I wrote it because "it's just the internet".
